I am 174cm (74kg) and I bought the M size frame. The bike fits me well, I went for a higher stem spacer (20mm) and even have a 30mm rise ONEUP handle bar on it. I am 48 and prefer to ride a little upright given the recurring sore back and shoulders. I had about 6-7 rides on it and it is just one of those bikes that make you wanna get out there and ride. The trails I ride have an abundance of lung bursting ups with short downhills that make you wonder if the climbs are worth it. I get the odd couple of 2 footer drops but generally not trails with endless descents. This bike suits this kind of terrain 100%. The emphasis on 'Trail' rather than 'XC' made me select this over the EPIC EVO as I wanted to mix it up with a little bit of naughty flicks and pops. The trails I ride are also quite tight, and the agility and sharp handling of this bike makes it easier on the twisty, windy single tracks. I paired this bike with a Pike instead of the Fox 34 just so I can get a stiffer feel up front and it seems to work. I would say that dialing in the suspension takes a bit of time. But I eventually went with a few PSI less from the recommended settings purely because the terrain I ride in which doesn't have that big of a deal jumps or drops. I would say I am about OK for fitness and this bike has helped me keep up with fitter riders a little longer than usual (I am still slower). I would wholeheartedly agree with the tons of online reviewers that this bike really eats up climbs. It goes over slow techy switchbacks climbs, does short bursts ones as well and your fitness will give up before you start blaming the bike. As for the descents, I would rate this bike almost as close to the Santa Cruz Tallboy. The Tallboy holds its ground better on rowdier rocks and tech descents unlike the Ripley that tends to wanna pop off everything instead. It is not a bad thing if you know where to lift off, but it may just be a smidge less predictable if you don't happen to line up the bike all that well. My bike weighed in at 12.3kgs with Dissector front and Rekon 2.4 rear, a 170mm dropper and full AXS. Online help has been extremely prompt and helpful from Ibis direct. You won't be disappointed with their level of service. Backcountry has also packed the frame well for delivery which deserves big kudos.

Everything about this bike is awesome!

What can you say about one of the best everyday just crushing it mountain bikes? Iâve ridden the Ripley LS, Ripmo, HD3, HD4 and the HD5 and I have to say this new Ripley is a beast stuffed into a small travel frame. The wife and I traveled down to one of my favorite winter riding spots in Hurricane, Utah for a little winter camping and riding. I also thought while iâm demoing this sweet ride Iâd also toss on one of the new Cane Creek Helm demo forks (140mm 44offset) and give that a shot as well. Itâs been a while since Iâve been out on a bike, Iâm coming back from an injury so the first day back riding and nothing seems out of the ordinary the bike simply works. It did feel a tad light on the front end on the steeper climbs, but that is most likely due to the fact that I had a longer fork on it. It wasnât till the second day when the wife and I switched bikes and thatâs when I really noticed just how sharp the front end handling was on the Ripley. Her bike felt lazy and sluggish in the turns and it definitely did not feel as efficient on the climbs or just riding down the normal trail. To be fair her bike has a little more travel but itâs still a 29â current model bike that we bought in March of 2019 when it first came out. I came away from the weekend incredibly impressed with the new Ripley. Ibis simply nailed the geometry and stiffness of this bike and the entire time while I was riding it I really couldnât think of anything I wanted to change. I was going to drop the Helm down to a 130 travel fork on Saturday night, however I forgot to bring along my small bike washing kit and I didnât want to get any dirt in the forks. If you are reading this review it means you are looking for a new ride and quite frankly if this bike isnât on your short list, you need to reevaluate your list itâs just that good! What's included with the Ripley frame (headset, rear axle, seat post clamp, derailleur hanger, etc)?
