It's well known that deep dish wheels excel on flat courses with their slippery aero profile, but often struggle on steep hills and switchbacks where cross-winds cause them to blow about uncontrollably. Designed to offer the best in aero efficiency without being uncontrollable in windy conditions, the HED Jet 5 Plus Carbon Road Wheelset w/PowerTap GS Rear Hub takes inspiration from the Jet 6 Plus, but with a slightly shallower profile for greater stability in cross-wind situations.

The secret to the Jet 5 Plus Carbon's cross-wind stability lies in its Stability Control Technology, which reduces the force placed on the wheels by winds at yaw angles of 0 to 15 degrees. This means you won't experience the sail-like effect of deep carbon wheels, making it inherently more stable than its 55-millimeter depth would suggest. Another cool feature build into this wheel, HED's C2 rim concept reduces its aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance. This concept is made possible by its 25-millimeter width, which provides an "aero shroud" over the rest of wheel while changing the tire's contact patch for decreased rolling resistance.

This particular version of the Jet 5 Plus comes with a PowerTap GS Rear Hub for accurate assessment of your power output when you're training and racing. This hub is built with DT Swiss internals for the responsive engagement and durability you've come to love from their star ratchet system hubs. This power meter features both Bluetooth Smart and ANT+ compatibility, wirelessly communicating with your favorite head units.
