When it first came on to the cycling scene, Gore Bike Wear changed our most basic ideas about what it means to ride in inclement conditions, and the Oxygen Gore-Tex Active Shell Jacket is the top of the heap when it comes to winter-weight protection that breathes. It won't change the weather in the climate around you, but it will preserve a more pleasant microclimate between it and your skin.

Active Shell defines the, so you won't become sweat-soaked in an attempt to ward off rain, and Gore engineered the Oxygen with zippered vents at the forearms and sides to help you stay cool when the drizzle takes a brief break. The side vents also provide easy access to jersey pockets, so you can stuff gloves and ear warmers in when you don't need them.

Cut slim, the Oxygen will slide comfortably over a jersey but won't flap in the breeze when you get low during a wet and extra-exciting descent. A partially elastic hem keeps your lower back covered up when you're in the drops and the high collar sits comfortably against your neck. The collar is also reinforced, which makes working the front zipper with one hand a simple task. Gore finishes the Oxygen with a full complement of reflective details so you don't find yourself being ridden off the road by sleepy commuters when you're out for a misty, early-morning training ride.

  • A race-fit cycling jacket that braces the storm
  • Gore-Tex Active is the brand's most breathable membrane
  • Wind- and waterproof shell beats the weather
  • Zippered vents boost ventilation when the storm clears
  • Slim cut, dropped hem, and ergo collar for an elite fit
  • Zippered access to jersey pockets underneath
  • Reflective details help keep you visible on stormy days

Very small sized - Ultra small arm width

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

Balance the fact it’s GORE so it’s high quality with forearms that are a manufacturing measurement booboo. I’m 6’3” and 202lbs and XXL fits tight on body but OK. It’s the forearms that are like a second skin - they do zip 1/2 way up forearm so you can partially deal with it.

Nicely made but difficult fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I have not used this jacket and will be returning it, so this review is will respect to construction and fit only.

The jacket appears to be well-made but its fabric and tailoring are such that it will not fit folks with larger arms and shoulders. I'm not particularly muscular but the jacket is far too tight in the arms and shoulder for me. The material does not stretch and it was a struggle to get into the jacket with only a cycling jersey on underneath. Wearing a long sleeve jersey or thermal top would be out of the question. Ironically, the lower part of the jacket fit fine.
