We've sold ceramic bearing retrofit kits for years and we've always appreciated the fact that FSA has offered ceramic bearings as standard equipment before it was a universal craze. Ceramics offer a measurable reduction in friction. Like improving your aerodynamics, having ceramics makes you faster, but it'll do so with a lot more money left in your pocket.
The FSA BB86/BB92 Ceramic Bearing bottom bracket will fit BB86 and BB92-specific bikes from Scott, Giant, or the ever-growing variety of other frames built with an integrated bottom bracket shell that measures 86.5mm wide x 41mm i.d. The kit comes with two of FSA's sealed ceramic cartridges. Each of the 37mm x 24mm x 7mm bearings are pressed into a forged and CNC machined aluminum sleeve that has a 41mm o.d. and is chamfered to allow an easy start for the press fit into the bike. They have a 1.75mm thick shoulder that sits flush against the frame's bottom bracket shell to provide a positive stop. FSA uses black plastic dust shields to augment the rubber seals built into the cartridge bearing. The shields snap into a small groove machined into the inside diameter of the inner race and run freely with no drag.
The FSA BB86/BB92 Ceramic Bearing bottom bracket assembly is all you'll need to mate your crankset to a BB86 specific bike. It comes with the two bearing assemblies and a small syringe loaded with FSA's special ceramic bearing grease formulation. Actual weight is 64 grams.
