In the middle of insurmountable climbs, we've all shakily thrown our shift lever hoping we had a miracle gear left to get us over the nasty, root-laced crux. It's usually not there. But after a deluge of seemingly too-wide-to-be true cassettes emerged recently, the possibility of those elusive miracle gears is more real than ever before. E*thirteen components jumps into that deluge with its TRS Race 11-Speed Cassette, and its immense 9-46t range remains one of the largest on the market.
Perhaps the only downside to mounting a cassette with a colossal 511% range onto your squishy enduro rig is the fact that you won't be able to use suspension or gearing as an excuse on a steep climb when you're just plain out of shape. Of course, if you're riding with any regularity, you'd be hard pressed to run out of gearing on either side of the cassette, but don't think your ride crew will let you get away with walking up a lofty roller without some heckling if you've got the TRS Race gleaming on your rear wheel.
