Built for rallying down enduro tracks and bike park laps, the Devinci Spartan GX Eagle Mountain Bike is Devinci's flagship model for long-travel fun. 160mm of forgiving rear travel is powered by a high-pivot design that prevents chain tension from causing unwanted effects on suspension kinematics. It also lets the bike's wheelbase grow to tame repetitive hits on gnarly trails. A 64.5-degree head tube angle further strengthens this bike's descending capabilities, but it's no slouch on the uphill either. A steep 76.5-degree seat tube angle (size large, low position) keeps us in an efficient climbing position, and a short 430mm chainstay (size large, low position) provides maneuverability for picking apart tight trail sections. The Spartan is designed around 29in wheels for their ability to carry momentum over square-edge features, prevalent in areas like the Pacific Northwest or Rocky Mountains.
Mated to high-pivot suspension the new Fox Float X2 provides progressive squish while the suspension layup delivers a bottomless feel. Split-pivot is highly active tech, meaning that those fast, loose, and chunky sections of trail get soaked up without a second thought. Outfitted with the wide range SRAM GX Eagle groupset this bike is no slouch on the climbs while utilizing SRAM's huge 10-52t cassette. SRAM Code brakes provide thick boots to get us under control on high-speed terrain. The build is capped off with wide burly Race Face AR30 rims that get dressed with downhill-focused Maxxis rubber. Maxxis Assegai and Dominion tires get endless top marks for stickiness and grip and continue to be a favorite for those of us who live for the descents.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
