De Marchi's line of throwback jerseys pays homage to cycling's heroes and bygone days, when training plans were simpler and diets far more relaxed. Evoking pastoral scenes from the middle of last century, its France 1954 Jersey takes its inspiration from Anquetil, the first cyclist to win the Tour five times and the first to break Coppi's hour record, and then his own, in 1956 and '67.
Monsieur Chrono wore a jersey much like this one, and De Marchi pays homage to it with the brand's signature dose of class. De Marchi constructs the jersey in Italy out of a soft merino wool blend, with merino delivering its dose of vintage cycling style as well as odor resistance and a natural ability to regulate body temperature.
Synthetic fibers keep the jersey breathable, and De Marchi eschews the modern zipper for a classic shirt collar, complete with two Mother-of-Pearl buttons, allowing you to add some airflow to the jersey. Those elegant buttons reappear as closures for each of the three rear pockets, finishing a jersey that will add some much-needed timeless style to roads replete with synthetic "aero" jerseys and futuristic frames.
