Roll around the globe.

Departing on international bike adventures is nothing short of exciting, but it can also be nerve-wracking when thinking through how you're going to get your trusty steed to your destination. Fortunately, Dakine is here to help take some of your worries away with the Dakine Bike Roller Bag. This sturdy bag is ready to roll through airports and train stations alike, with ample space for downhill, trail, 29ers, or road bikes. It comes equipped with internal padded bags for protecting your wheels, fork, and rear triangle, and extra-heavy-duty external padding shields your bike from blows during travel.

Getting your bike to a destination safely is the most important job that a bike travel bag can serve, but that doesn't mean we can't love other features, too. Namely, the packability of the Dakine Bike Roller Bag. Nobody likes sacrificing half of the floor of their hotel room to a giant bike case, and you don't have to with the Bike Roller Bag—just roll it up, clip it together, and the bag compacts down into a small enough package to sit in the corner of your closet.

  • A beefy bag for traveling with your steed
  • Accommodates DH, MTB, and road bikes
  • Internal pads protect your wheels, fork, and rear triangle
  • Heavy-duty external pads shield your frame from abuse
  • Bag rolls up to pack away in the closet in your hotel room

It got the job done

I wasn't overly impressed but it did get the job done. The issue I had is that the side without the wheels didn't hold it's shape very well and sort of flopped over to one side. This made rolling it with my left hand a nightmare. It kept the bike protected though and made it to Europe and back.

    Unanswered Question

I know it says it fits 29er wheels, but is that with tires inflated? I have the Evoc bag, and my one major complaint is I can't fit my 29 x 2.5 tires without deflating at least partly. That means I usually have to re-seat the tubeless tires upon arrival at the destination, which is a pain.

    So easy to use!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is incredibly easy to use and makes the hassle of flying with a bike much easier! Just pull the wheels, pedals and handlebars off and then follow the illustrated directions on the bag. This is made even easier by the color-coded buckles. I went one step further and pulled the derailleur off as well and let it hang by the cable. While not necessary I felt that it helped to protect the somewhat delicate component from the rough treatment of airline baggage handlers.

Once it's packed up the generous handles and wheels make it easy to roll up to the check-in. It does remain quite large so getting it in the trunk of a taxi probably isn't going to happen but the fact is that bikes just aren't that small.

    Works great so far

Only one trip cross country with it so far, but the DaKine bike roller bag worked perfectly. Plenty of padding and both rotors made it just fine. I'm running Ibis Boost 27.5 wheels with Maxxis 2.6 DHF II's and that is all the wheel bags will take. Anything bigger and you would have to completely deflate the tires. All in all a great bag. Headed to Leadville next week for the Leadville 100 so it will get tested once more.

***Oh, I did remove the rear derailleur just to be safe. It doesn't say to do so, but too much risk to deal with a busted one!

    Worked great

I purchased this bag in order to take my large size 29er Hardtail up to Hood River to ride Post Canyon. It worked well. Was relatively easy to figure out how to secure everything, despite no instructions coming with it. There are only a few pieces and are somewhat intuitive to utilize. Had to remove the derailer and deflated the tires. I felt like it secured the bike well. It was also easy to maneuver the bike inside the case due to the ergonomical handle and rollers. At one point I ended up even rolling it through a grassy field for about 300 m. There was no damage due to airport handling . I would recommend if you were looking for a soft case.

Thanks for your feedback, Caleb! Happy to hear it worked out so well for you!!
