Delivers better warmth than expected
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
Excellent in stopping the piercing cold wind, retains heat well and wicks moisture. A tricky combination but Craft achieved it. I can ride comfortably down to 38 F with just this and a warm jersey.
Great first layer

This is a warm first layer that really knocks down thee wind. Use it on colder days and you'll be happy. Nice texture and fits true. great value for the money.
Solid baselayer

A fine base layer that does its job blocking wind and wicking moisture. Wearing one of these extends the temperature range I can get away without putting on a soft shell jacket when riding. With this layer, a thermal long-sleeved jersey and either a wind vest or jacket, I've been out in mid-40's weather without a problem.
This does not have the wind stopper fabric on the shoulders--which I think is important--like the Extreme Active version of this base layer does. But it's also $35 cheaper, too. If you watch, sometimes the Extreme version will go on sale. If you can wait, save your pennies for that one, otherwise, this one is not a bad substitute.
A note on sizing. It does fit a little looser than I like base layers to fit, but I'm used to wearing form/race fit jerseys. Your mileage may vary.

Must have for winter riding or skiing

This garment has a 2-ply front face that is very effective at stopping wind. It's a base layer designed for skin contact, and works best that way. (Pile layers on top of this for colder weather.) It works well with your heart rate monitor and will not disrupt the signal in wind, unlike some jerseys and base layers.
Although I love it and use it all the time, it gets 4 stars for shrinking a bit and having frustratingly short sleeves. I still keep buying it and would miss it if it was gone, so 4 stars is good enough!
