Of all the miles we log in a year, the prospect of cold winter base miles can sap motivation faster than a warm bed. The problem isn’t staying warm. There are plenty of winter jackets out there. The problem is staying warm and dry three or four hours into a ride. Most jackets that can keep you warm when the temperature hovers above freezing don’t breathe too well. The Castelli Stelvio WS Jacket is a notable exception.

What makes this jacket different is its use of Windstopper X-Fast fabric. This more breathable and stretchy fabric features brushed fleece on the inside for improved moisture transfer while remaining completely wind-proof. Strategically placed Windstopper X-Lite panels in the back and sleeves allow the jacket to enjoy a more form-fitting cut thanks to the material’s stretch, while also giving outstanding breathability.

A flip-up collar cut from stretchy and fleece-lined Thermoflex will keep the wind from running down your chest on chilly descents. The Stelvio Jacket has an effective temperature range that runs from just above freezing to the low-50s.

Three rear pockets give you all the carrying capacity of a jersey while eliminating the need to open your jacket for food. Reflective tabs on back will help keep you visible at dawn and dusk.
