Perfetto RoS Long-Sleeve Jersey

We'd be fibbing if we said we've had enough of Castelli's Perfetto line. In fact, we're ecstatic every time a new piece is announced, and this year's Castelli Perfetto RoS Long-Sleeve Jersey takes the cake for winter rides. Now in the Rain or Shine line, the Perfetto sees an improvement in water and windproof protection, without kicking breathability by the wayside. It still offers a Gabba-esque cut that we covet, but with elevated fabrics and technology, packing in new GORE-TEX Infinium fabrics to offer you heat at the core, and ventilation at the back, enabling you to ride hard no matter the weather.

Changes were abound on this generation of Perfetto, with all new fabrics going into the construction in its entirety. Instead of the GORE Windstopper X-Lite of previous years, Castelli employs a balance of GORE-TEX Infinium 205 Warm and 203 Stretch fabrics. At the front-facing panels, the warmer 205 is placed to provide you with an insulated brushed lining to trap in heat, while a fully waterproof membrane takes on showers, gusts, and hail, contrasting to the ultra-breathable 203 Stretch at the back panels that offer exceptional mobility, while ushering perspiration outwards to maximize ventilation and keep your core primed through the miles.

While the materials are undoubtedly an impressive feature of the Perfetto, what makes the piece truly stand out is its attention to fit. Cut with the race in mind, the Perfetto features forward-oriented sleeves, and an abbreviated chest that reduce bulk when you're in the cycling position. Of course, this means that the jersey feels a bit tight across the chest when standing upright, but when stretched out on your bike its built to contour perfectly to your muscles for an aerodynamic fit that skips bulky folds of excess fabric. In contrast to its predecessor, the Gabba, the Perfetto fits even closer to your chest and stomach, preventing any sagging and bulk through your core that we often find in winter-oriented kits.

Castelli recommends the Perfetto RoS Long Sleeve for temperatures ranging from 39-to-57-degrees Fahrenheit, which stretches comfortably into slightly cooler temperatures than the previous Perfetto. Just as with the Gabba and previous Perfetto, we find this jersey to find a bit on the toasty side in the mid 50's, especially when hammering up major elevations, though its temperature designation is something we'd say is subject to personal tolerances, and with a proper base layer we can see it working well for many riders at even cooler temps.

  • The updated Perfetto is eager to take on rides, Rain or Shine
  • GORE Infinium 205 Warm fabric at front fights the elements, insulates
  • Flexible back panel of GORE's Infinium 203 lets you move freely
  • Breathable membranes enable exceptional moisture management
  • Race-worthy cut sheds excess fabric for a form-fitting silhouette
  • Contoured paneling is designed for bulk elimination in riding position
  • Deter wheel spray from close fitting storm flap and drop tail hem
  • Zippered vents at chest drop heat in a pinch
  • 2 rear pockets with pump sleeve can be accessed with gloves on
  • Bright reflective details boost low light visibility

Note: Castelli has a "Euro" slimmer fit. We suggest ordering at least one size larger than your normal US size.
How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Natural Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Great jersey/jacket

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought one of these on a trusted friend's recommendation. It's great if the fit is right for you. I have long skinny arms and for many brands, the sleeves run short (for my arms) in a size small, which I find to be a major nuisance. So I typically size up and have somewhat baggy long sleeve jerseys. This jersey fits me well. I wish there was a cuff at the wrist and a smaller zippered pocket at the front, which would be easy to access with gloved hands (hence the 4 stars). In addition, I would love high visibility versions (acid green or "hunter" orange). My first ride with this jersey was a 5 hour gravel ride in lower 40 temperatures. I had a Castelli Flanders long sleeve base layer. It worked amazingly well. I was comfortable, and I was not a sweaty mess. Bring the winter on!

Weird Fit

FIT: The sleeves of this jersey are so tight and inflexible that it was a bit painful to bend my elbows. The sleeves are also quite long. And this is coming from a long-armed person. The body fits fine. FABRIC: This fabric may wick well and keep me warm, but it feels stiff and dense, and just doesn't feel made to move in.

Do the sleeves zip off.

No, they do not.

Great Product!

I've put it through the wringer

This jersey is so comfortable. It fits tightly, and looks and feels great. I am five feet seven and weigh 120 pounds. I bought two medium, one in the dark blue, and the other is pink. I have used the earlier generation of Perfecto jerseys for the last two winters and didn't think anything could come out better than those products. I found the new versions block out the wind even better than my older versions. The jerseys keep you warm without holding in extra sweat. I stay fairly dry even after two hours on the bike. Living in Southern California, I don't usually feel the need to layer underneath. When I do, the jersey is almost too warm for my climate.

Very skinny arms

I returned this product before using it
Size Bought
Medium and Large
5` 8"
130 lbs

I was very excited to get this jersey based on the description. Sadly, I had to return it due to the odd fit. I am 5'8, 130lbs and typically wear a size 2 or Small. But Castelli does tend toward the Euro sizing and I have a short sleeved Castelli which is a Medium and fits well. I ordered a Medium and a Large in this to cover my bases since I assumed I would wear a base layer under it. The Medium was out of the question on fitting over my arms. It was so uncomfortable and dug into my armpits. I assumed the Large would be IT, but the arms didn't have much more room and still dug into my armpits, even though the sleeve length was longer. The rest of the Large body was then too roomy. Also, on both of these the neck was widely stretched when zipped up, probably tugging from the arms and didn't have the nice snug look of the pictures. One comment on the color...the pink is VERY bright. If you want to be seen, you will. Think blaze orange hunting gear. It's close to that. The pictures on-line make it look a bit more toned down and flattering. I have no idea how this performs as far as wind or water proof because the sizing was just too odd for me to take it for a test run. If your arms are very thin, this may work well.
