Really great fit, not so great seams
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
As a mtb rider with big quads and a smaller waist, this chamois fits me perfectly! I always struggle to find biking shorts that are designed for muscular legs, but these fit the bill perfectly. However, after riding a few times I have had some issues with the seams where the liner is attached causing some discomfort and rubs. I do have rather wide seat bones and therefore a wide saddle, so it seems that I might just need a wider liner to avoid weighting the seams when sitting down.

Great All Around Liner
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I’ve been using Backcountry liners almost exclusively only because I tend to reach for them over my Rapha ones which surprises even me. The chammie is thinner which I prefer, and the length of the inseam is just right for mountain biking. I wish they came in a slightly shorter size for road biking, or a bib version so I hope that’s on the way! I find these true to size but I was told liners should be quite snug, so if you prefer a roomier fit go up a size.

Best Liners

I have tried several liners. Pearl Izumi, Sheebeast, Endura...but nothing compares to these. I hope they don't discontinue them!

Ditto to another review
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
There is another review on here saying these shorts are perfect for a certain body type and I couldn't agree more! Thankfully I have the small waist, big booty/legs like the other author so these shorts fit great. But I can certainly see how they are a goofy fit for other body types. I would like a little more elastic around the legs but they don't seem to ride up too bad

But where do I put my legs?
I ordered these for use under mountainbike shorts, they arrived quickly, so that's nice. And they appear to be just the ticket for a liner short. As I took them out of the packaging, I heard the raucous laughter from my legs. The waist band measures 12" lying flat. Let that sink in for a moment (24" waistband!) some quick maths, and we're still a sold half foot from a reasonable Women's Large. I could maybe get one of my size 10 feet through the opening. The rest of me? Nope. So, am returning these, hoping someone might reevaluate the sizing or the labeling. Thanks for the laugh, though.

*PERFECT* for a certain body type!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I am a petite woman with a very small waist, a comparably big hips/butt area, and not-small thighs. Most bike shorts either fit one dimension or the other (same with most lower body wear). After reading many reviews I decided these sounded like just the right fit, and they were!!!!!! I've worn them mostly on the peloton, but just used them a bunch of times mountain biking and I LOVE them; there is so much airflow from the mesh too! Additionally, my preference is towards a thinner chamois so these hit the mark with that as well. I usually wear a size 2 in curvy fit jeans (or a 4 with a belt), and in other bottom clothing the butt requires a Medium while the waist would prefer an xs. Without a doubt this runs small in the waist, which is a rare find IMO. Hopefully this sizing info can help another person shaped like me!

so so so small
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I really wanted to like these. I even reordered a larger size after my first order was laughably small. Then I was so sad after my next order was still way too small. I think though, I was assuming "non-road cylcling fit" and should have been considering "road cycling fit." Road cycling fit tends to be extremely small to accommodate really small riders. So while I'd normally fit into a M/L, I would need an XL or maybe even XXL in these. They were also a lot longer than I'd expect (possibly even longer than my shorts I"d wear over) and really high waisted. Frightening muffin top there.

Awkward Sizing for Me
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I was very excited to try these bike shorts and purchased my regular size Medium. However, I was disappointed when I tried these shorts on and realized they were way too tight over my hips, a bit snug on my thighs and waist, but a smidge loose at the leg opening. I was discouraged enough about the fit that I didn't try the size up-afraid the leg opening would be too loose and still have the shorts too snug in the hip. The shorts seem nice but I won't try again until they revise the fit. Some of the Backcountry bottoms seem inconsistent in sizing. I am very much a medium, would have needed a large in these, wear a medium in the Slickrock Bike Pant, and a small in the Pecos Water short.

Very Odd Sizing - Ideal for Pear Shapes
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Unfortunately I cannot comment on the function of these liner shorts, as the sizing was way off. I am 5'9", 140lbs, hourglass figure that normally wears Size 6 or M in bottoms. My measurements are a little smaller than the following, as I have lost about 8lbs since recording these measurements: Waist 30 6/8 in, and Hips 42.5 in. Based on the reviews I decided to go with a size L. Here's the thing. If these shorts were a little too big all-around, then I can happily return them and purchase the size M. However, the proportions on these liner shorts are way off. I could barely squeeze into these shorts at the waist/hip area (I have a big butt, I don't deny it), but eventually managed to get them on. The deal-breaker for me however was the thigh portion of these shorts. They were incredibly loose, and I don't have skinny thighs either! Needless to say I was shocked atnd disappointed at the odd sizing. If you have a really tiny waist and bigger thighs, then these shorts could possibly work for you. I was really looking forward to these as they are high-waisted, but alas, my search for the perfect liner shorts continues.

Sweet but run small
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I find all the backcountry brand clothes I have bought run small, I should have known. Initially got these in size M (my standard size) and they fit but they were too small in the waist. I have never liked things too tight on my stomach so I bought a size L. The L fits really nicely and it sits higher up, maybe a few inches above my belly button and feels really good. I love the mesh for breathability and the legs although are loser, they don’t effect my performance or bunch up. I did find around 45 miles into my ride my crotch got a little sore and shifted around a little but it was not excruciating and I pushed through. I love the black as I can wear them on their own and since I don’t have diaper butt I feel Comfortable wearing them without over shorts. Personally, I really like these shorts. I do have some chamois I prefer over these but I find these pretty close in comfort and all around function. The biggest plus for me is wearing just these on my ride and feeling comfortable in public!
