Keep it light.

You spend giant wads of cash trying to drop weight on your bike. Why would you spend even more on a pair of "full-featured" shorts with a bunch of stuff you don’t need. Heavy fabric and zippered vents add weight. The Alpinestars Rover Short is made with an extremely lightweight but durable polyester fabric that breathes well and wicks moisture away from your skin. As far as features, the Rover has things you need (like a removable liner short with chamois) and ignores the things you don’t (like a built-in HD video camera).

Alpinestars built the Rover Shorts with strategically located stretch panels. A stretch-poly rear yoke provides an unlimited range of motion. This also adds to the shorts' durability, because it stretches rather than tearing. The synthetic fabric pulls moisture away from your body to keep you dry and comfortable, even in the heat of the summer. Double-seam reinforcements provide bulletproof durability, and the seamless seat area increases comfort and eliminates chafing.

An EVO removable liner with a chamois absorbs shock and vibration to reduce fatigue. It also manages moisture to keep you dry and comfortable. The liner can also be worn with other shorts, so you can transform any of your other shorts into bike shorts. Alpinestars also included a double-snap fly and belt loops to let you perfectly dial your fit. Two cargo pockets and two deep front pockets provide comfortable, convenient, secure storage while you ride.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

cheap cheap cheap

  • Size Bought: 32

material is okay, medium weight, nothing special but not horrible, obviously pretty cheap. length is good, just about at the knee. here is where my problems start: 1) no cinch options at waist so if the fit isn't perfect good luck 2) single snap closure, just a matter of time til that starts coming loose on a ride, 3) the chammy is the worst i've ever had, and that is saying a lot for baggies. usually you expect a pretty low end chammy only good for short rides in these. this one actually manages to wedge into a taco shape, inserting itself into areas left to the imagination. if the outer fits perfectly they would be a perfectly fine low end short, but without any sort of cinch that's a pretty big if. the chammy should be thrown away immediately.

Nice Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Shorts fit true to size (if anything a little big), if you're an odd size go down an inch not up. I'm a 33 waist and initially ordered a 34, way too big, 32 fits fine with room to spare.

Only worn them twice but they're comfortable, padding in liner is ample and good pockets.
