Paragon Plus Knee and Shin Protector

Alpinestars' Paragon Plus Knee and Shin Protector takes you off the drop you've been skirting or the freshly built jump you've been dying to hit with the confidence that if you do botch the landing your lower legs will be covered. This guard features contoured protector pads that absorb and distribute impact to a larger area, keeping the force from affecting one concentrated point on your leg. Ripstop accents keep the pad performing for ride after ride3, while stretch mesh in less exposed areas increases the airflow to keep you cool. Silicone grippers ensure that the Paragon Plus won't slide around, keeping you on your bike instead of adjusting your gear.
  • Knee and shin guard for downhill riding
  • Stretch mesh is comfortable and breathable
  • Contoured protector pads for anatomical fit
  • Ripstop accents enhance durability
  • Silicone secures the protector's position

Best Lightweight Pad

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have worn so many light weight pads that really only function as wrist and ankle warmers. It has been tough to find a pad that stays on when riding and more importantly stays on in a crash that isn't hard shell downhill stuff. I have gone through most of the major brands. Alpine stars Paragons work for me where others don't.

This is my second set of Paragons. The plus version is a big improvement though the old version worked pretty well. The knee shin pad has a reinforced elastic built in on the calf that works brilliantly to keep the pad in place.

Note that the new plus version sizing is off on the elbow pad for me! The size table may only be appropriate to the old version (old ones size large fit, new ones not so much). Consider buying a size smaller than what the table tells you to get. Knee pad sizing seems to be right.
