In its simplest form, a derailleur-alignment tool is often little more than a pry bar with an adjustable feeler. They're often crude, and can be frustrating to use considering the feeler's position is compromised every time it contacts the rim or is moved to clear frame stays. Abbey Bike Tools addressed this issue with the Hanger Alignment Gauge.

The feeler can lock into place so it retains position if it bumps against a wheel, and the top half rotates to clear stays — making full, 360-degree rotation much easier. This means not only quicker, but more accurate alignment. To ensure the hanger position is spot on, Abbey Bike Tools holds tolerances as tight as half a thousandth of an inch (.012mm) within critical dimensions.

The Hanger Alignment Gauge is compatible with most common wheel sizes (26, 27.5/650B, and 700/29) and is about 28mm long. For easy portability, or to save space in a toolbox, the feeler can be stored inside the top-half of the tool. The Abbey Bike Tools Hanger Alignment Gauge is rebuildable and, for durability, it's powder coated and anodized where applicable.

Doesn't get any better

I've put it through the wringer

I was always borrowing my buddy's tool, even though I previously owned a Park. I finally bought one of my own. I'm always amazed at how many new bikes right off the showroom floor or out of the shipment box need their hangers straightened. I use this tool on any new bike I work on and at least twice a year on each bike when doing deep maintenance. This tool is lightweight, yet with enough heft and leverage needed for bringing hangers back into alignment. And while you can do the same thing with tools from Park, using the Abbey is a much smoother affair with far less messing with the feeler and no risk of bumping it out of place. The Abbey's feeler is held in place by twisting the top cap to lock it in place whereas the Park uses rubber washers which can be more easily bumped. Will it last a lifetime? Probably, but I imagine a Park would, too, unless you're using it wrong. Is it expensive? Definitely. You always pay a premium for a well machined tool. Is it for everyone? Doubtful. But if you put a premium on good tools that are easy to use, accurate, and will last a long time, the Abbey HAG is definitely one to consider.

Best available

I've put it through the wringer

This is the best dag available these days. The park option has waaay too much play so its hard to align a hanger any better than straight ish. With 11sp drivetrains you need to start with a straight hanger or you sweet new toy will work not so great.

Custom Crafted

I've put it through the wringer

Half precision measuring instrument and half pry bar, you will never need to buy another hanger tool. Not to mention it is more more compact, better designed and made in America compared to Park Tool DAG Well done Abbey!
