A great set of baggies needs to be durable, but they shouldn't feel like steel armor on your legs. Thanks to Mavic's Trail Tech ST fabric, the Crossmax gives you the abrasion-resistance you need, but with a light, stretchy feel that won't slow you down. Trail Tech ST is highly breathable, too, helping to pull moisture away from your skin to keep you dry and resist chafing.
With a 14-inch inseam, the Crossmax may seem long when you first put them on, but hop on the bike and you'll soon discover that they're just long enough to keep the tops of your knees covered, which is especially important if you're wearing pads. However, they manage to avoid the Capri effect that some other trail shorts suffer from. There are two front pockets, and the storage options continue with a zippered pocket on the lower right leg and a cargo pocket on the left. Finally, there's a zippered pocket at the rear, which is perfect for ID or a car key.
Also included with the Crossmax shorts is the removable liner. Made
from mesh to keep you cool when you're hammering, this liner is built
around Mavic's Ergo 2D chamois. It'a low-profile insert, smaller than
many distance-oriented options, but with just enough padding to keep you
sitting in comfort as the day wears on.
