Chorus has now stepped up its game. Before, you could tell Campagnolo Chorus 11 D Skeleton Brake Calipers from its Record and Super-Record cousins by the fact it had a polished finish to their anodized black. No longer. Now, Chorus Brakes also boast a glossy Black ano' finish.

Chorus is very close to Record and inching closer. At first glance, the only difference you see is the exposed pivot bolt heads. And then you see that you get the great Differential (the D of the name) design, where the front brake is a dual-pivot, and the rear a single-pivot. This reduces braking power in the rear, where it's not really needed, and makes the brake a bit lighter and simpler as well.

The nuts that were once steel have now been replaced by aluminum alloy -- another spot for weight savings.

They've re-designed the brake shoes and the brake pads with physical changes and updated graphics. A quick look tells you that the shape of the brake shoe is different -- you can see it from all the relieved and skeletonized aluminum and by the new shape of the wheel guides. What's harder to see is that this new design also incorporates a safety tab to prevent the blocks from accidentally falling out. The tab is in the back half of the shoe and is released with a little leverage from a small screwdriver.

The new shoe also calls for a new pad. Campagnolo's new pads are designed to be a more complete all-weather compound that wears less on the rim.

Otherwise, this is largely the same second-generation forged skeleton design that is super strong and provides great braking performance. All told, this brakeset is a claimed 19g lighter than its predecessor.

The Campagnolo Chorus 11 D Skeleton Brake Calipers have a reach of 40-50mm. The brake quick release is on the brake lever blade. They come in Black.
