As a woman, it can be a real pain to find a nice, long pair of freeride shorts, and even tougher to find a pair with actual mountain-bike-specific performance features. The ZOIC Women's Navaeh Plaid Short has you covered in both departments with the added style of a plaid print. This full-featured freeride short has an 11-inch inseam and a women-specific fit that looks good and won't interfere with your knee pads.

The most important feature of the Navaeh Plaid Short is its chamois liner. The chamois, called the ZO-Tech, is ZOIC's highest-quality, multi-level, stretch chamois. It's even made with recycled polyester so it gives a little back. The chamois cushions impacts and reduces vibrations in the saddle. While you may not even really feel these vibrations, your muscles do, and all that shock and vibration causes fatigue. The liner is also fully removable. You can wear the Navaeh Short with the liner, then ditch the liner when you just need a casual walkshort. You can even wear the liner with other shorts to transform them from casual shorts to riding shorts.

The Navaeh Short's list of features doesn't end with its removable chamois liner, though. The whole body of the Navaeh is made with a stretch material that won't bind or limit your range of motion. The fabric also pulls moisture away from your skin to keep you dry and comfortable. A Fusion Gusset inseam further increases the short's range of motion and eliminates seat hang-ups. The Navaeh also comes with plenty of pockets–two front and two thigh– so you have plenty of room for your essentials. There's even a dedicated media pocket for your phone or MP3 player with a headphone cord control grommet and loop to avoid snags.

As far as fit is concerned, the Navaeh's cuffs falls at the knee. The leg holes are loose enough that they don't interfere with knee pads. ZOIC also included waist adjustments so you can really dial the fit to your exact specifications. The flat front waistband is secured with a standard zip-and-double-snap closure.

ZOIC Women's Navaeh Plaid Mountain Bike Shorts come in sizes XS through XL. They are available in Black Square and White Square.

My favorite shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I find it really hard to find shorts that fit my cyclist body. These fit true to size I think and I LOVE the fit, and the function. They are comfortable, look good. The light material is super comfortable to wear, it doesn't get too hot in summer, but is nice to ride in in cooler weather too. They have worn surprisingly well. I do like to wear them casually sans liner as a regular pair of shorts.

Great shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The fit is true to size and they are really comfortable. The material is easy to clean so they stay looking nice. The liner short is a tad bulky, but isn't too bad when riding. Lots of compliments on these shorts! Oh, and I'm pretty sure these shorts made me faster!
