The real thing.

Women's freeride shorts seem to be few and far between. It's easy to find women's shorts for road biking or even XC mountain biking, but they always fall a little short on durability and freeride style. The fact is, they just fall a little short–five or six inches short–of looking like they really mean business. Let's be honest, the knee pads and short shorts look worked fine for roller skaters in the '70s. These days it should be outlawed. Fortunately, the folks at ZOIC agree wholeheartedly. The Women's Navaeh Short is a real-deal freeride short. Save the short shorts for the boardwalk.

The most important feature of the Navaeh Short is its chamois liner. The chamois, called the ZO-Tech, is ZOIC's highest-quality, multi-level, stretch chamois. It's even made with recycled polyester so it gives a little back. The chamois cushions impacts and reduces vibrations in the saddle. While you may not even really feel these vibrations, your muscles do, and all that shock and vibration causes fatigue. The liner is also fully removable. You can wear the Navaeh Short with the liner, then ditch the liner when you just need a casual walkshort. You can even wear the liner with other shorts to transform them from casual shorts to riding shorts.

The Navaeh Short's list of features doesn't end with its removable chamois liner, though, Not even close. The whole body of the Navaeh is made with a stretch material that won't bind or limit your range of motion. The fabric also pulls moisture away from your skin to keep you dry and comfortable. A Fusion Gusset inseam further increases the short's range of motion and eliminates seat hang-ups. The Navaeh also comes with plenty of pockets–two front and two thigh– so you have plenty of room for your essentials. There's even a dedicated media pocket for your phone or MP3 player with a headphone cord control grommet and loop to avoid snags.

As far as fit is concerned, the Navaeh's cuffs falls at the knee. The leg holes are loose enough that they don't interfere with knee pads. ZOIC also included waist adjustments so you can really dial the fit to your exact specifications. The flat front waistband is secured with a standard zip-and-double-snap closure.

ZOIC Women's Navaeh Mountain Bike Shorts come in sizes XS through XL. They are available in Black, Castle, and Wisp.

  • Removable ZO-Tech chamois
  • Multiple pockets
  • Adjustable waist

great shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Size Bought: small

Run true to size , great fit for me, they tend to taper towards the knee, but I think that makes them more stylish. Have them in 2 colors. Fantastic buy on sale- chamois is great, lots of pockets - maybe too many - I forget where I put what!!

Seriously? Ask true woman about fits

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

These shorts would be awesome if they didn't have such high rise waist. Seems all shorts are like this in women's? Why? Other then this, I love the length, the style, fit, material. If you dont mind waist three inches above your belly button!!

Great short

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Bought these as a gift - I've been told they are great for women with bigger quads and smaller waists. Also super lightweight - great for hot summer rides.

Wife is happy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my wife and here are her thoughts -

I love the fit of these shorts. They are true to size and super comfortable. I also found the chamois to be a great fit and nice and soft. No complaints from me!

I love these shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XS

This is my second pair of mountain bike shorts, and I absolutely love them! They have a slim fit which can be hard to find, while still providing room to move. They're adjustable, lightweight, stretch just enough, and are super comfortable when riding. The liner is great as well and snaps in so that it stays with the shorts :) I will be buying more, in the other colors, there isn't much I'd say needs improving.

The best outer shorts, bunchy liner shor

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

The outer shorts fit really well, look terrific on the body and move with you while you ride. I love them, and want to wear them on every ride. But the liner shorts that come with them are not up to the usually Zoic standard. We have 7 pairs of Zoic shorts and more shirts from them. But these liners don't have any gripper elastic on the the legs, so they just ride up and bunch up in the crotch. Never had that happen with any other pair od Zoic liners.

love the outer shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

I wore these every day for two straight weeks mountain biking in Nepal and love them. I went over the handlebars after I crashed in a hole in the middle of a road and sent up a giant cloud of dust on impact. I flipped my bike over nose first on one of the world's longest descents. It still took about a week to begin to show any dust clinging from the long days in the dust and mud. To wash them up I hosed them off with the bidet or swam in a river wearing them.

I wore the liner from another pair of shorts, but the outer shorts were really awesome, great length, great pockets, adjustable tabs on the waist.

Annoying sizing, but great function!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Extra Small

Okay, aside from the fact that the liner is a whole size smaller than the outer short (and they do shrink a bit even drying on low), these are great. These look super cute on, and are nice and stretchy. They are even cute enough to wear without the liner if you're hanging out after biking, too! I actually got engaged in these shorts and can't complain about how they look in the pics! The pockets are well-placed, and large enough to fit a Samsung S7 phone on the side. I've crashed a couple times and have yet to see a tear on these, yet they are light enough to make biking bearable when it's 100 degrees in Phoenix! Overall great short, but definitely order up!

Annoying sizing, but great function!

Love the outer layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

Great shorts also they seem to be quite warm. Would only recommend for lower temps. The inside layer is okay but not super padded. Like teh shell simply for hiking or traveling as well

Very breathable

These shorts are perfect for hot summer riding! They are breathable and pretty light material. They may not hold up in crashes (I thankfully haven't crashed them yet!) due to the lightweight material used but I would highly recommend them for hot summer rides. I like the color choices as well!

    Awesome Shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

These shorts are awesome! After years of riding in old bike shorts, it was time for an upgrade. Little did I know how far women's mtn bike shorts had come since I last bought a pair! These shorts are super comfortable, and fit perfectly. They also have the ability to allow you to switch out liners, so that you can wear them multiple times before washing! The fabric is thin and allows for a lot of breathability, but it is super durable as well. After a few snags, I am yet to rip or damage these shorts! I just wish I had them in all the colors now!!

    These are great

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

So far they have handled several crashes really well and have protected my thighs from rocks. The liner is not so flattering so I've replaced that already. I ordered a Medium but could definitely fit into a small. Love to adjustable waist band and the material of the shorts, super soft and comfy.

    Don't bother

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

So...the outer shorts really are nice. I own an earlier version and wore them til I blew the seems out. These fit larger than that pair in the outer short. Inner chamois band around the thigh is stupid tight and since the outer shorts are thin it is very visible when wearing both. I bought a M and I am 5'4 and 130 with muscular (mtn biking ) thighs. If you are willing to pay 70$ for just a pair of thin stretchy shorts than these are great but if you want a wearable chamois with said shorts then don't bother its not worth the price because you will have to purchase a separate chamois. I don't understand the HUGE disparity between men and women's mtn bike shorts! Functionality is totally lost for "style" and even that is lacking with such a short chamois inseam to outer short length and rise in the waist.

    Lightweight, stretchy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

These are made of a really thin, stretchy material. I haven't crashed in them yet, but they fit well. I'm a curvy 5'6" between 130 and 135 lbs and the medium fit well. I like that the waist is high enough to not slide down during rides. It's really hard to find good shorts!

    Great shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

These shorts are made of a lightweight, comfortable material that moves with you. I am 115lb. have narrow hips and the XS fits perfectly. The chamois is a little thin, but I just wear a thicker one when I go on longer rides. Shorts look great on and off the bike!

    Don't buy the hype

The liner is great but the shorts themselves look really cute but were not built to last. The second time I wore them was in a race and I blew out several seams after a gentle crash. Not worth the money. Maybe it's time to buy men's shorts cause they seem to be better built.

Nice short - Good Value - Fit small

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium

Got these today, have to return them cuz they are skin tight :(. Usually a medium in women's bottoms, but these fit more like a small. Material is nice as is chammy. Hope the larges fit.

      Live in these!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I highly recommend these shorts for cycling, walking, hanging out. So comfortable and have great cargo pockets for storing my iPhone, keys, wallet, you name it. Nice stretch so no chaffing or discomfort in movement. On top of all that they have a flattering cut. Love the removable liner. Not really thick but good enough and it doesn't feel awkward when you are off
      the bike and walking.

Great MTB Shorts! I would buy many pairs

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

These shorts are comfortable and flattering. I like that they have many pockets and are slightly stretchy. Another feature I like about these shorts is that the chamois is removable, so you can wear bibs or other chamois shorts underneath. The chamois that is included is quite comfortable; it provides cushioning in the sit bone area and does not rub against soft tissue. However, the material of the chamois short is thin, thinner than a bib or short you would wear alone.

Overall these shorts appear to be high quality, as I have crashed a few times in them without any tearing, and are extremely comfortable! I highly recommend them.

Nice, but wish they came without chamois

Wish Zoic made a chamois-free version of these shorts, as the outside shorts are good, but the liner not so much. I would remove the liner and just wear a higher quality Pearl Izumi or other chamois. Higher rise in the front than other shorts. I like the long inseam. I'm a size 4 in pants/shorts, and wear a Small in these Zoic shorts.
