ZOICEther Shorts - Men's
Item # ZOI003N
Mr. Popular.
The Ether is Zoic’s most popular mountain bike short. The Ether features plenty of storage space and plenty of ventilation, which is quite common in shorts that cost twice as much from other manufacturers. The new Ether is made with an upgraded DuraFlex stretch fabric that moves with your body and stands up to pro-DH amounts of abuse.
The whole body of the Ether is made with DuraFlex stretch material that won't bind or limit your range of motion, and Zoic taped the seams to create a smooth surface that won't cause chafing. The fabric also pulls moisture away from your skin to keep you dry and comfortable. The Fusion Gusset inseam further increases the short's range of motion and eliminates seat hang-ups, while vents below the waistband in the back and down the legs promote airflow so you can stay cool on hot days of riding. The Ether also comes with plenty of pockets — two front, two thigh, and one back — so you have plenty of room for your essentials. There's even a dedicated media pocket for your phone or music player with a headphone cord control grommet and loop to avoid snags.
As far as fit is concerned, the Ether's cuffs fall right at the knee. The leg holes are loose enough that they don't interfere with knee pads. Zoic also included waist adjustments so you can fine-tune the fit. The flat front waistband is secured with a standard zip-and-snap closure.
- Quintessential all-mountain shorts
- DuraFlex fabric promotes fluid range of motion
- Falls just-below-knee for optimum coverage and roominess
- Bright color pops and subdued palettes suit any style
- Zoic creates obsessively refined riding apparel

Classic zipper issue

I got these in December on a deal. I got to finally wear them on my Moab trip in March. Zipper failed right away and since they where bought over 30 days ago no luck with claiming a refund. Shorts fit perfectly but the crotch zipper is a POS. I would not recommend these or Zoic at all until they figure out how to use a better zipper on their shorts.

I don't usually get stoked about riding clothes, but wow, these shorts fit me so well Ihad to say something! I am a large mountain biker( 6'1", 245lbs.), and it is nearly impossible to find stuff that fits, at all. The Zoic Ether shorts are perfect for me!

These are my first pair of baggies, and they fit well and perform better. There’s plenty of storage, and all pockets prevent things from falling out on the trail. I’ve only worn them twice, but they’re holding up well.

Terrible value

These don't come with liners you can get them at the bike shop for a few dollars more with a liner. I am very disappointed! I have bought three pairs from bike shops and REI for around $59 on sale that come with a liner.

zipper zail...common problem
- Familiarity:

Liked these sorts but the front zipper failed in the first season. Purchased in April failed in Sept. Maybe got a dozen rides out of them.

One of my favorites

They breath well and have pockets. What more could you ask for? They have held up alright but are showing a little wear, but I would get them again. I wear them biking and trail running. Be careful with the zippers and you won't have a problem.

Zippers blowout

Like reviewers John B and Greg L - I too had the zippers blow out of both pairs that I bough. I warrantied them through Zoic and the replacement shorts that they sent me did the same.

good, not great
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
First ride in them today. Wore Patagonia liner shorts under them. I'm a 32 waist, so ordered a medium per the size chart. I should've gotten a small, as I had to tighten the velcro waist tabs almost all the way, and they are a little longer and baggier than I would prefer. The crotch zipper got off track the first time I zipped them up, but I lowered it and pulled it back up and it worked fine after that. Had no issues riding in them, and the crotch never got hung on my seat. The side pocket is huge, which is fine, but when I put my phone in it while riding my phone slid around to the back of my thigh. I wish the pocket would keep my phone more on the top or side of my thigh. Good shorts overall, but enough small things to get a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 for me.

These are great mtb shorts. Lightweight very strong material, with lots of zippered pockets for phones, keys, etc. I wear these shorts shredding my favorite trails and for hiking the canyons too. Very cool for the desert here in Arizona.

Great Reliable Short
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Had a pair of these for a very long time, and recently purchased two more. The original pair from REI had the liner, but I am honestly happier purchasing it without - I am picky about liners. The fit is great. The length hits at the knee. The pockets at the waist are not much use while riding, but there are plenty of lower leg pockets. I personally like the sideways orientation of a few of the pockets as they are more convenient to reach while riding. Overall very happy with these. Glad to see the quality hasn't changed over time.

Great Fitting Shorts
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These are my favorite mountain biking shorts on the market. I wear them over bibs and they fit great. They stretch much better then some higher priced shorts I've tried. Super comfortable for long days in the saddle and have plenty of pockets to easily fit keys, phone, wallet and so on. I also wear them with low profile knee pads which fit easily fit under the bottom of the shorts.

great shorts

I've bought this ones before but in blue. I totally love them, so I decided to get another pair but this time in black. The blue ones are just fine, the only issue is that it is a bit hard matching shirts, so that's why I went for the black ones. I'm usually a 33 and this time I got M instead of the L I previously bought. I prefer how the M fits.

Solid shorts w/o liner
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:
- True to size
I like to wear bib shorts and these work great over them. While not baggy, they have plenty of room and are very comfortable. The velcro adjustment tabs are great for dialing in the fit without needing a belt. They stay in place and do not stick to or get hung up on my seat. Plenty of pockets for keys, gels, cash, etc. These are my go to when I do not need knee coverage, can't beat them for the price. I have a slender build and usually wear an XL in bib shorts, went with an L for these because I like a slimmer fit for my outer layers.
