Ether 9 Short + Essential Liner

Blending high-tech features, understated styling, and long-ride worthy comfort, the Zoic Ether Shorts are the ideal companion for your next day on the trails. Arguably the most important feature of the Ether short is its Essential Liner with Zioc's Comfort chamois. This high-quality, multi-desity, stretch chamois cushions impacts and reduces vibrations in the saddle. The liner is also fully removable, which makes the Ether extremely versatile for on-trail trail and chamois-free style at the post-ride burrito stop, or even turn your favorite pair of casual shorts into ride-worthy attire.

The Ether's list of features doesn't end with its removable chamois liner, though. The body of the Ether is made with a stretchy, moisture-wicking material that won't bind or limit your range of motion, and Zoic tapes the seams to create a smooth surface that eliminates chafing. The Fusion Gusset inseam further increases the short's range of motion and eliminates seat hang-ups, while vents below the waistband in the back and down the legs promote airflow so you can stay cool on hot days of riding.

  • Hit the trails in this versatile short
  • Move freely with light, soft, and stretchy fabric
  • Gusseted construction enhances freedom of motion
  • Removable liner's chamois provides supportive comfort
  • Ample pocket space to safely stow ride essentials
  • Adjustable waist band holds the shorts comfortably in place

absolute trash

Size Bought

purchased the Zoic shorts 1/30/2019 (Item # ZOI005J) wore them 1x the other day the fly zipper broke as well as one pocket zipper. i contacted the company there attitude was basically too bad too sad. not only is the product crap but Competitive cycle and considering they don't support their customers on their products isn't far behind. very disappointed ...

Another Zipper Fail

I've used it several times

Great short, mediocre chamois. But one of the front pocket zippers failed after 10 uses. Backcountry would refund, but no replacement, ostensibly due to Amazon restrictions. Apparently there must be some sort of problem with the shorter leg short’s zippers. I have the longer short, too. The 9 is a better length. But I recommend not buying through Amazon because it limits the warranty.

front zipper broke after a few weeks, I'm really bummed b/c they were otherwise awesome. cool look and super comfortable outer with tons of storage pockets and zip vents, the liner was not great as it felt baggy and stiff when standing around but felt fine riding.

Highly rated, highly disappointed

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought two of these for the near 5-star rating (the full length pair), the combo chamois/short combo, and the not too long inseam (this is the 9 inch inseam). Let me start by saying these are the most awkward bike shorts I've ever worn. Maybe they're just too large? Both the chammy and the overshorts. The chammy fit like a diaper. The padding extended to almost my belt line on my back and has a saggy fit. Reviewer Connor, here, seems to agree the chammy is disappointing. The overshorts also seem quite big. I come in right at a 31 waist and have an athelic build, but the amount of bagginess in the Medium is annoying - I bought this pair over the standard length pair for that reason. I felt the size chart was full-on wrong on this one. Regretfully, I'm passed the 30-day used year return window. Backcountry, if you shot me a coupon, I'd swap these out and try these in a small and then try a new review.

Cuz that's exactly how you'll look in these babies! I had been looking for some MTB baggies that don't come down to my shins and these fit that criteria perfectly! The sit pretty far above my knees while seated/pedaling. The bibs that I wear while mountain biking actually come down further than these shorts do while I am seated. These also have great pockets, which is harder to find with MTB shorts than you'd think. The 2 pockets near the hip are perfect for holding my keys or phone whenever I have a nice commute to the trailhead. They also have a rear pocket and a couple cargo pockets further down towards your knees. The velcro straps on the hip that make for easy and comfortable adjustments. I got the medium. Those are recommended or a 30-32 inch waist. I am closer to a 30 in waist. These were a bit big at first, but they fit perfectly now that I adjusted the elastic/velcro waist band. My only complaint is the chamois. The liners that come with most all baggies are sub-par, especially when it comes to the chamois. I prefer to wear my road bibs under my baggies anyways, so the "essential liner" is just stuffed in a drawer. That is the only reason at all that I docked these down to a 4 star review. Everything else about this short warrants a 5 star review in my opinion.

The item name says 9inch short, but the technical specs says a 12 inch inseam. Which is it?

Hey Jonathan! The specs must be wrong. I just got a pair of these, and the inseam is significantly shorter than my 12 inch inseam baggies. I didn't measure them or anything, but they must be 9 inches for the inseam.
