ZOICEssential Liner Shorts - Men's
Item # ZOI000A
Essential Liner Shorts
The Essential Liner Shorts are part of the Interchangeable Padded Liner (IPL) System, which makes for a seamless integration with Zoic's outer shorts. The Essential Liner features an anatomically contoured ZO-Tech chamois, treated with ZO-Wick moisture management, to ensure comfort and dryness on the bike.
Multi-level ergonomic foam enhances long-ride comfort, and the six-panel design doesn’t have a center front seam, as to avoid irritation. The Essential Liner's spandex mesh fabric stretches for freedom of movement while adding to the liner's ability to breathe and wick. Tagless labels eliminate itching and irritation, while gripper elastic on the insides of the leg openings keeps the liner from migrating.
The Zoic Essential Liner Shorts - Men's come in sizes Small through XXX-Large and in the color Black.
- Liner shorts for mountain bike comfort
- Spandex mesh moves and breathes as you ride
- ZO-Tech chamois is contoured for a comfortable fit
- ZO-Wick provides moisture management
- Gripper elastic secures the hems
- IPL System integrates with Zoic baggies

I actually ended up with a couple pair of these liners since I also purchased the Ether SL short which comes with this liner. Agree with other review that the chamois is large and can be uncomfortable. The liner doesn't seem to hold up to gentle machine washing so best to do these by hand if you've got them already. Fabric stretched out already. Sorry, but can't recommend.

Another return

These have a huge chamois. I didn't even have to sit on the saddle to realize that these wouldn't work. They might have been okay to ride in, but I couldn't stand to feel like there was a sleeping pad in my shorts...

The chamois is by far the least comfortable of any shorts or liner shorts I have. Would not buy again.

Size check
I bought M, and its tag indicates it is M size, but printed size label show it is S. After washing, I found that. What I bought is compression inner... I'll not buy zoic brand any more.

Great value
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:
- Runs small
Edit: Update after 2 months and hundreds of miles. Wear is starting to show on the mesh next to the chamois. Way more than is reasonable for this short of a time in service. Overall, I really do like them, but I'm dropping to 3 star given the issues. Might try a Large and see how that goes. Purchased 2 pairs for an upcoming trip. My PI liners were causing some chaffing and I wanted to try something different. The pad is well placed and comfortable. So far I've put about 30-40 hours in the saddle on these shorts. Up to about 5 hrs in duration on a single ride. I was feeling the butt pain, but zero chaffing. I ordered a medium, I am almost always a Medium size, but they feel a bit small. They fit, but are a bit low-rider feeling on the hips. I suspect a Large would fit better and when these wear down a bit I'll move up a size. Sweat wicking is outstanding and build quality is quite good. Overall a very good value and short liner.

These shorts run more like a boxer brief with a 9" leg. They are perfect for us short legged guys. Excellent padding for a 4+ hour mt bike run and you don't get that sweaty diaper feeling. These shorts wick the sweat away so you never get damp. The mesh is great as you don't over heat on those 80+ days. Buying another pair

These are awesome but whats more awesome is that they are actually affordable. So many quality bike products are just over priced and these are right on the money.

I don't care one way or another. It's better than the alternative. Add a little chamois cream to these and you're set for a few hours of riding hard. I've done 20+ miles on singletrack with these on and walked away feeling fine. The fit is generous in the waist, but they're tight in the thighs. The thigh band keeps them in place, but it's designed for a someone with less mass than i carry. Maybe this keeps them from riding up. In that case, i'll take a few more pairs.

I bought these liners after loosing a pair of Pearl Izumi's during a cross country move. The are on par with any other liners I have had. I have only used them 4 or 5 times so far, but they will be my daily commuters going forward. I have a 32" waist and the medium fits great. They are awesome under regular shorts for cruising the city on the way to work or the bar!

Love being able to throw these on under whatever I'm wearing. They don't feel too awkward or diaper-ish, are well ventilated, and save my ass whenever I go for a ride.

Love these padded shorts! Slip 'em on, toss over a pair of baggies, and rip up your local trails without the usual irritation or uncomfortable bunching of cheaper alternatives. The chamois is pretty nice, keeping me comfortable in the saddle during longer rides and intense climbing efforts.

First Pair
I just started commuting to work and these liners have been exactly what I needed. A pair of liners I can put my pants on right over top of them. This chamois has enough padding to cushion the ride so when your getting used to the saddle your not hating life.

Replacement liners

I got these to replace the stock ones that came in my Zoic shorts a couple of years back. They are slightly better, offering good padding for the thickness. I have done some long rides, some almost completely in the saddle, with no issues.

If you do, you better pick yourself up a pair. Gave these to my roommate so I didn't have to hear him complain anymore. He said they work great. He rides almost everyday. Doesn't think he could without these.

The BEST

I have 2 Zoic Assault Liners that are just now starting to become threadbare adjacent to the chamois pad. I just reviewed my purchase history, and I bought those liners both in 2009. I ride trails 3-5 days per week, year round. Zoic's chamois position is the only one that puts the chamois where it belongs. The new liner is exactly like the old Assault liner, as advertised. The fit is perfect as always, and the pads and the elastic grippers on the bottom of the pants keep them in place for entire rides. I wish my road bike spandex fit like these. Zoic's stuff is always high-end.
