Pedal Up, Smash Down, Rinse, Repeat.

If you regularly find yourself racing enduros, ripping laps in the park, or attacking the biggest lines on the mountain, the Yeti SB6 GX Eagle Complete Mountain Bike is your weapon of mass destruction. Its six inches of quality travel will have you blasting through rocky singletrack at scare-yourself warp speed and cornering with an alacrity that will leave other bikes in its wake. If you want a machine with the absolute best big hit capabilities that will get you down the mountain on shuttle and lift missions but that's not so single-minded that it couldn't pedal back up if you wanted to, the SB6 is among the leaders of a very small class.

For a bike with such an appetite for aggressive terrain, the SB6's carbon frame pedals along with surprising proficiency while tackling big epics, no doubt helped along with the lightweight carbon frame and efficient Switch Infinity suspension platform. Yeti's standard Carbon frame is every bit as strong and stiff as its TURQ carbon, but with a slightly higher weight that rides just north of half a pound. Dollars to doughnuts, that is something we will gladly accept since we'll pocket the difference for post ride burritos, race entries, and beer. Always beer.

This build is equal parts performance and value. The extraordinary GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain has us wondering why doubles even exist anymore since it's plentiful range saves grunting up the steepest climbs with a comically massive 50 tooth bail-out gear. Other components of note on this quality build include SRAM Guide R brakes that stop on a dime and the DT Swiss M1900 wheels, whose 30mm internal width plumps up the Maxxis tires to help pick apart technical lines at blurring speeds.

Beyond its impressive build, the SB6 is a sure-footed steed that's a favorite of enduro racers and aggressive riders in need of a confident machine capable of tackling rough and rugged terrain with aplomb. Yeti's factory pilots, Richie Rude and Cody Kelley, constantly put the SB6 through the grueling paces of the pro circuit. So there's plenty of proof that the SB6 has imperturbable composure when you twist the throttle at high speed. The keys to its slash-and-burn attitude and big-line conquering lie within its long, slack geometry, which—at 65.5 degrees—is a full degree slacker than Yeti's more trail-oriented SB5. A slightly longer wheelbase, to the tune of almost an inch versus the SB5, adds yet more high speed stability.

Outside of its progressive geometry and build kit, the Switch Infinity suspension provides a super-efficient pedaling platform that's still unbelievably plush when you're dropping into unrelenting rock garden sections of baby heads or rooty drops. Yeti achieves this balance through a patented translating pivot that switches its direction as the bike progresses deeper through its travel, hence its Switch Infinity namesake. Yeti's engineers sought to achieve a suspension platform with distinctive anti-squat characteristics while pedaling and climbing, paired with rock-gobbling plushness when you're ripping down rowdy sections of trail. In our book, it's a definite upgrade from the previous Switch Link suspension, which felt a bit harsh on successive square-edge hits and ledges.
