Description

Ready for the rough stuff.

Presenting itself as the all-mountain Queen of the Yeti Cycles apparel line, the Norrie Shorts focus on durability over weight. As a result, the Norrie shorts are intended for the aggressive rider, not the weekend warrior.

For the construction, Yeti used a heavier weight stretch polyester than what's found in the Caddoa shorts. This material selection provides a tougher fabric that brushes off diggers, while still retaining the freedom of movement that's necessary to confidently maneuver the bike in technical situations. And to be certain that you're prepared for whatever the mountain has to offer, Yeti also treated the fabric with a water-repellent DWR finish. This finish will bead off light to moderate rain without sacrificing the polyester's natural breathability. So, regardless of if you're sweating or getting rained on, you're guaranteed to remain dry and comfortable.

Further separating itself from the Caddoa shorts, the Norrie also has a longer inseam -- 12 inches compared to the Caddoa's nine. This increased leg coverage adds a touch of extra security for the inevitable spills that result from all-mountain riding. To securely hold the short in place, Yeti incorporated a wide waistband with additional silicone grippers. With this feature, the pre-shaped leg panels are free to follow your movements in the saddle without falling victim to either sag or rise. And for further flexibility, the shorts also feature a stretch yolk at the seat panel, ensuring that you're covered in multiple riding positions. For pedaling comfort, Yeti employs internal glide patches and a seamless crotch to prevent any irritation.

To store all of your ride essentials, the Norrie has two hook-and-loop hand pockets and a zippered stash pocket. And like all Yeti shorts, the Norrie is compatible with Yeti's Ruby liner, which features an Italian made chamois.

The Yeti Cycles Norrie Women's Shorts are available in four sizes from Small to Large and in the colors Black or Turquoise. Please note that Yeti bases its sizing off of waist size. So, a X-Small accommodates a waist size of 0-2, Small is a 4-6, Medium is an 8-10, and a Large is a 12-14.

  • Protective, 12-inch inseam
  • Internal glide patches and seamless crotch
  • Two hand pockets, one zippered stash pocket

Favorite shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I first ordered a medium because everyone told me these shorts ran way too small, I ended up returning them and ordering a small instead (my normal size- I am 5'4" and 115 pounds). The shorts are great, thick enough to keep warmer in the fall. I even wore them to bike in the snow and they kept me much warmer than my other shorts would have! I like the length on the shorts, just long enough to reach my kneepads.

Goldilocks

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I really wanted to love these shorts, tried a couple times. I borrowed a friend's small a few months ago when visiting and really liked the fit. Went to order the same shorts and the small was way to tight and much longer than I had remembered my friend's pair being. I returned the small for a medium but they were way too big. Both sizes were fairly long for someone who's on the shorter side (I'm 5'4"). I have a wider bottom and a smaller waist, unfortunately these shorts aren't made for curvy lower-halfs.

Best shorts ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

Been wearing these since 2015 and just ordered my 3rd pair. I will not ride technical trails in any other shorts. These shorts are trim in the legs, so there's no extra fabric to hang up on your seat or frame. But there's enough stretch that they don't constrict your movement. The waist does not move. No chamois hanging out the back or uncomfortable creeping down at all... they stay in place. And they are cute and flattering. Probably best for women who are not super curvy. I've got a 28" waist and 36" hips, so almost no curves at all. Usually fit in smalls, but definitely need a medium in these. Also, make sure you spray the muddy/dirty spots with Oxyclean before washing. They do tend to stain otherwise.

True to size, bit too heavy for me

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

I love the fit and style but with the liners and hot weather, I felt like they were too stiff and didn't breathe enough. I'm sure they will be great in spring and fall though and they are high quality.

Very happy

I'm 5'6" and 125 lbs. the shorts fit well with room for movement. The ruching on the sides adds a nice feminine touch. I wear the Yeti chamois underneath in S and it's a perfect combo. I bought these twice.

    Great Shorts

These bike shorts are great, I have one pair of yeti shorts and decided to add this pair to my collection. They fit more snug than most shorts. Typically I wear a medium but in these I went up to a large. They are a bit more snug than I would prefer but I love the color, the length and durability of these shorts. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because I wish these weren't as snug and they came in an XL.

      Awesome shorts!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Large

I use the shorts for mountain and trail riding on a regular basis. The fabric seems to be all seasonal! The color is vibrant, and though the sizing is off ( as other reviews have stated), with the help and experience of one of your awesome gearheads I was able to make the right choice! At 5' 4", 145 pounds, I usually wear an eight. But in these shorts the large is great! Accommodates my booty and cinches at my waist. The great customer service at Backcountry.com keeps me coming back!

      Wife is Happy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these shorts for my wife for a 4 day mountain biking trip. She loved the fit and bright color. She said they were comfortable to ride and she loved how flattering they are.

      Too Tight

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Large

These are very well made and I wanted to like them but they were too tight in the thigh and kept riding up. I usually wear a size 10 pant and the large was too small in the butt and tights.

Great shorts if you aren't too muscular

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: medium

I love these shorts, but they are tight in the thigh and butt for their size. Cyclists often have muscular thighs! These shorts are tight. I might keep them, but I can barely fit a chamois underneath, even though the waist fits. I'm 5'8", 140lbs, with a 38" hip measurement. I want these shorts to fit so bad because I really like them! I love the exterior waist adjustment and the interior waist grippers to keep them in place. Love these shorts, just give my strong quads another extra inch or two in the thighs!
A large would be too big in the waist.

      Awesome and flattering

Gave as a gift. 2nd pair purchased.
Ordered a small for 5'7" 112 lbs they are roomy and could have gotten an XS, but she prefers to have them a tad baggy.

        Fancy Pants

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
        • Fit: Runs large
        • Size Bought: small

Bought these for my fiance and glad I did. Very flattering. Bought a small, but could have gone with an XS as they seem to run a tad large. They do have adjustable tabs on the side.

        Sweet Shorts

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: xs

These are the best bike shorts I have ever worn. The fit is amazingly comfortable and are designed for a woman's body. I spend no time worrying about getting shorts hung up on my bike when trying to get off my seat or shifting my weight and all my time enjoying my ride. Thank you, Yeti for doing your research and making a kick ass product.

Thanks for the review Susan! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

        Built for Slim Hips

Purchased these hoping they'd be feminine, yet fit for shredding, and long enough to cover the tops of my knees. I have the Ruby liner in a Large and it fits like a dream, so I went with the Large in these shorts. Unfortunately, I had to return them, they were a bit too snug and the length was too short. I'm 5' 7", 150lbs, and wear in a Large in other mnt bike shorts (Troy Lee). - Though these were not the shorts for me, I'd recommend them for a few reasons. - The fabric felt super durable, these may actually last a life time. - There's a convenient waist adjustment on either side.- The articulation around the knee would make these comfortable for peddling.

          Great bike shorts

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Small

Super durable (I've wiped out on them a bunch with no obvious damage) and they're just the right size to give me full coverage down to my knee pads, but still accommodate the pads.

I got the S/4-6 -- I end up cinching up the waist straps a *lot* to fit (I have a 26" waist), but they fit well in the butt and give me the right amount of fabric/slack in the thighs for when I'm peddling hard.

          weird sizing

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: medium

Made well, but the sizing is messed up. I'm usually a size small, but with these shorts, the small was very tight in the butt and thighs, but the waist was perfect. Had to size up to a medium and the butt and thighs are perfect, but the waist is HUGE! Good think for the waist cinchers on the side. Otherwise these are great shorts and seems to be made to last.

          Sad to return them

          • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: XS

I really liked these but for the price I couldn't justify them. They just weren't going to work for riding. They were very snug in the legs but kind of huge in the waist. The adjustments in the waist allowed me to tighten them to fit my waist however I need something that was going to be looser in the thighs for riding in. Once you tighten them in the waist these looked great on me and show of my curves. That's only good if I'm going to be wearing them for casual use though. Couldn't justify keeping them just to wear them for show. Love the color and wouldn't have wanted it getting dirty anyway since I ride in a lot of muddy areas. I'm not that big in the thighs but I suppose my waist is smaller in proportion to my hips so I have this problem a lot. Maybe others won't have an issue with the sizing like I did. measurements are 32-24-(36/37) if that helps anyone else.

          My go-to shorts for riding

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: S

I could see how the sizing of these shorts could be a bit odd to some. The pants are slightly tighter than I expected. They do, however have a perfect amount of stretch to them. I wear shorts underneath while I ride, so I would say they fit me perfectly. I have a fairly slender/athletic body type. I love them.

I purchased these in teal and love the color. I get a lot of compliments on them. I would buy them in every color if I could. :)

          My Go-To bike shorts

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size

Got this for my wife, in her words:
These are the only bike shorts I wear. They are comfortable, durable, and look great. They have a flattering feminine fit which, let's be honest, is a BIG deal as far as women's bike clothing goes. They have stood up to a lot of rides and just as many washing's and still come out looking like new. I bought the pink and it's just the amount of flare I was going for. They're a great length, not too long not too short, hitting just above my kneecap, with pockets in all the right places. Due to the feminine fit, they are a bit narrow in the thigh so I can see them being too snug for more muscular body types but for me, these are just right! You know the order of operations, look good, feel good, ride good!! Happy riding!

          In-Between Sizes

          • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: Small

:( I know there was lots of confusion below in the reviews for these shorts about sizing. There was some mismarked shorts in last year's run and people were all atizzy.

I ordered BOTH the size small and the size medium to determine what would work best for me. The shorts themselves are awesome. Super nice feeling, durable material, great shape to them. I was most wild about the length, not too long but not too short. Zippers seemed to be made of great quality, as did the tabs used to adjust the waistline.

I was fully in-between sizes though - BUMMER, so I returned both.

          I am 5'3" and 125 lbs.

The size small looked nice, fit in the waistband and rear, looked great. BUT - I couldn't bend or squat without some discomfort, they felt a bit too tight. I typically take a size small in most brands.

The size medium was wayyy too large. It was poochy in the rear area and the waistline was huge. I could run the waistband cinches all the way down to achieve the proper fit, but it didn't look awesome. Moving around and bending they felt a LOT better than the small. But again, since the waistline and butt didn't really fit, I decided not to keep them. I wish I could have kept them.

          Good luck!
