Not Just a Pretty Face.
Yeti bikes often exceed expectations. Born on the trails of Colorado, the brand continuously hones their craft and we are grateful, as we get to ride the fruits of their labor and it's hard to argue that it doesn't produce some of the finest riding bikes on the market. The Beti SB5 Turq X01 Eagle Complete Mountain Bike
is designed specifically for female riders and the 27.5 inch wheels are perfect for the geometry offered and optimized for all mountain use. Handling is very intuitive and the longer and lower feel, gives it a great "in" rather than "on" the bike feel. The Switch Infinity suspension platform never ceases to amaze us how supple and bottomless it feels in the rough, yet extremely efficient while climbing and hammering along rough terrain. It's no surprise that bikes have gotten slacker lately to inspire a little extra confidence when it is steep and rough and Yeti's are no exception. We do feel like the 66.5-degree headtube angle hits the sweet-spot of point and shoot on the downhills without the bike wandering on climbs and requiring extra attention getting up to the goods. Short chainstays and a low bottom bracket make the bike very capable and if you are ready to add some Strava trophies to your repertoire, meet the bike that will help you get there.
This bike uses Turq Series carbon which is the highest quality material Yeti builds with and is the ideal blend of lightweight, stiffness, and durability. Yeti's Enduro World Series riders race production frames and subject these things to some heavy-duty thrashing throughout the year and across the globe, so rest assured that the frame can handle it. The feedback from the racers as well as Yeti's own in-house riding and testing allows it to build a frame that is just over 5 pounds and is fully backed with a 5-year warranty.
Switch Infinity is responsible for the excellent riding manners the Beti SB5 possesses. Co-developed with FOX Racing Shox, the design allows the main pivot to move downward once the system reaches its inflection point. This translates into a very linear leverage ratio and prevents chain force from affecting the suspension. External grease ports keep maintenance easy and top-end Kashima coating on the shuttle tubes, long lasting Enduro bearings, and high quality seals ensure the system will work flawlessly for years to come.
The frame may be the star of the show but you can't ride a frame without a build kit and that is where SRAM’s Massive gear ratio XO1 Eagle drivetrain adds all the gear you need for getting up or racing down the mountain. Matching the FOX Factory Beti DPS shock with a lighter tune for women riders, is the FOX Factory 34 fork with 150mm of travel. These components eat up rough trails akin to a Trophy Truck at full song on the Baja peninsula. SRAM Guide RCS wins us over with the power to stop you in your tracks when you get in over your head but with a great feel so it's never like it's on or off. The DT Swiss wheels bring additional reliability to the table and Maxxis Ardent tires are possibly one of the best all-around tread design we've ridden. Rounding out the goods making this bike specific for the ladies is a WTB Deva saddle, slightly narrower Yeti Carbon bar, and 170mm X01 cranks.
