I picked this up, so that my son can keep this in his gear bag when he goes on rides/races with his team, as often times they only have ways of mounting with traditional QR racks. This way he always has the tool on hand that allows the transport of his bike safely. I have used TA adapters in the past, and they perform as they're supposed to.
A simple fix to the big problem of hub compatibility on roof racks. This made it easy. However, not all mountain forks are the same spacing, make you youre looking for the adapter for a fork with 15mm thru-axle spacing.
Got the JetStream Base Rack Bars & Skyline Tower System and while everything was easy to install, easy to use and worry free carrying my MB's, one of my bikes didn't fit but I just got this 15mm T axel for adapter and it fit. Overall, super stoked with the Yakima rack set up!
I have the niner rkt 9 rdo with the rockshox Reba front fork. I bought this adapter thinking it would work well with my 9mm bike rack but not so fast. The Yakima adapter is 15mm x 100 while my fork is 15mm x 110 so there is some play and it doesn't hold the bike steady. Any ideas or a shim/spacer I could use? I don't think anyone is making adapters for these forks yet- help in Texas
There are not many options for fork mount racks and thru axles, this one works well. Agree with mkshort707's comment the someone needs to come up with a locking solution, but the product will extend the investment into my Yakima setup for many years.
4 stars for not having a locking option, otherwise it is a greta product.
