YakimaBedHead Truck Rack Locking
Item # YAK0039
The Yakima Bed Head is an affordable, no drill solution to carry a bike by the forks in the bed of any pickup truck. It carries one bike, quickly installs onto interior lip along truck bed rails with a beefy, long throw, 9mm skewer. Padding protects truck's finish. Get the locking version for extra security.

In the Rear with the Gear
Fits perfectly on my 2010 Toyota Tundra. Placed on the sides of the bed liner for crossing bikes on the left and right sides of the truck bed.

Works great
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Well here is what I did. I put the clam across the back where I have an eyelit on the opposite side. I use a bungie cord to hold the bike in place. As a result it doesn't move. For what it's worth I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado crew cab with a spray in liner. Love it. Would not hesitate in getting another.

Not gonna work
I thought this was a great option for my truck, but not so much. I have a 2010 f-150 which has plastic bed rails(no bedliner) and the clamp would not tighten enough to hold without the ability to move. also it only works on the side rails so you will have to figure out a way to hold the back wheel in place or your gonna end up with a banged up bike.

Limited
I used this item until I found a more versatile truck rack system that could carry ALL my gear at once without impeding my truck bed for other cargo.

Truck Rack Options
That's a cool product, but its limits are to bikes only. There are other options like the L2S Sports Rack Brackets that adapt Thule & Yakima accessories to the bed rail without losing the bed room. It also provides a lot more diversity for mounting other sports equipment.

Nice and secure.
The Bedhead is easy to install w/o any special tools and it keeps your bike securely in place. While the nut on the skewer does come off, you can make pretty tight with the quick release. It is always good to remember that locks only stop the honest person and if somebody really wants your bike then they will get it.

Locking Bedhead is a Dud
Despite Yakima's claim that this product locks your bike to your truck, the Locking Bedhead does NOT lock nor secure your bike whatsoever. This is truly a case of false advertisement. Any idiot can steal your bike even though it is supposedly "locked". No tools or vandalism are needed to steal your bike. The nut can easily be twisted off and the skewer removed even though it is supposedly "locked". You might as well purchase the regular Bedhead for $20 less since the "locking" version really does not provide additional security.

Does anyone know if it will fit on a 2010 Nissan Frontier with the utilitrack system without any modifications?

This worked great!
I installed these on my 2002 Dodge Ram with a sprayed in bedliner. The clamps held tight for over 1000 miles. The rest of the bed of the truck bed was free to haul other equipment. They are also compact for storage in the off season.

Not A Good Fit
I installed the BedHead on my 2001 Tundra with dealer installed bedliner. The device would not work on the hard plastic rails, so I had to cut out a section and install it to the metal rail. The fit is not that great. The unit will roll off the rail with a good tug. I initially tied down the bike to the stock tie-downs on the opposite side of the truck bed. After a few hours of driving I noticed the unit was rolling off the rail again. I eventually redid the rigging to use the tie-downs on the same side of the bed, along with a single tie to to opposite side. I'm either going to figure out a way to bolt the rack to the bed rail or return this unit for a bolt-on version.

I have a Cannondale Synapse...I was disappointed to find out this rack does not accommodate a through axle after purchasing it. Bought two of them...ouch. Overall though, it is a quality product if you have a quick release axle...the locking rack is definitely worth the extra $$
