Rubino Pro G2.0 Tire

We've coveted Vittoria's Rubino tire line for its base-mile longevity and versatility for some time, and this year's Rubino Pro G2.0 Tire continues to hold true to our asks when it comes to a training tire that can transcend to race days. It builds from the standard Rubino platform, utilizing the 3C Graphene compound we covet for its long lifespan, puncture protection, and sharp handling, but strays away to offer a foldable bead that sheds grams. A tubeless-ready casing allows you to extend the Rubino's flat resistance a step further than its predecessor, but can be run with an inner tube if you're not of the tubeless-persuasion.

The Rubino Pro G2.0 Tubeless tire features a technical tread pattern for stability across a wide variety of road conditions including surprise gravel adventures when your favorite country road is unexpectedly graded in the middle of summer. Vittoria’s nylon anti-puncture belt adds peace of mind while fending off flats, and the ride quality afforded by the 150 TPI nylon casing will smooth out decaying tarmac and the occasional rumble strip.

Not as Durable as I Hoped

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This tire was a replacement for one that punctured a couple.of weeks ago. That one got a small hole in the tread area that the latex sealant (Stans) didn't seal. Riding this one I ran over something and then the noise or air and fluid escaping. This time a small hash in the sidewall that again the sealant would not seal. Both occasions needed a tube to get home. I guess if you ride pristine roads they are fine but for the debris potholed things we call roads here in San Diego tougher tires with tubes are probably needed.

bad

Familiarity:

for some reason the 30mm Rubinos are MUCH wider than the 30mm Corsas, and don't fit on my bike (even though I think I could fit a 32 Corsa). Vittoria's quality control also seems to have gone way down recently and my two tires seem to be significantly different radii. One mounts easily and the other one is incredibly hard to go get on the rim.

Poor Tire Molding Quality Control

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
700x30

Just mounted the new 700x30 Rubinos on my Jamis adventure bike. When returning from a 30 mile spin I noticed that both tires have an issue with the molding process quality. The issue is apparently the two half's of the tire mold did not align accurately at the center line of the tire and were off set approximately 0.5 ~ 1.0 millimeters. This means that one side of the tire is higher or lower at 180 degree intervals, making the tire exhibit eccentric motion (wobbly) at higher speeds. I'll be contacting Competitive Cyclist to see is there is a manufacture's warren-tee for defects. There are good tires over-all and I will continue utilize Rubinos on my bikes provided Vittoria gets their manufacturing quality corrected.

Defective Tire

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These tires were easy to mount and set the bead using my air compressor. I inflated my tire and rode my bike around the block. The next morning when it was time to walk out the door for a ride, the tire was completely flat. I had 2+ oz of sealant in my tire. I pumped it up, filled up my sink with water, and immersed my wheel/tire in the water, only to see tiny air bubbles coming up from the sidewalls - all around the tire. Pulled the tire out of the water, and you could feel air coming out from the sidewalls. I don't know how this could happen apart from it being a manufacturing defect. This is not my first time mounting tubeless tires, and I'm returning these ASAP.

Disappointed in this tire

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have a set of lightly used Rubino's on my back-up road bike which have been fine. So I purchased a second pair for my primary bike. Into the second ride on these new tires, the front tire sustained a pinhole puncture which would not seal. The puncture would seal with added sealant and inflated to 80 psi, but once ridden would open and spray sealant. After several attempts, I have removed the tire and will look for another set. More disappointing is the non-response from Competitive Cyclist. I have sent text message, email and chat to see if there is a warranty or return option. Finally got a response by chat - no warranty/return/exchange. I recommend not buying this tire.

Not for Hookless Wheels

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Was looking forward to trying these on my recently purchased Mercury G1's which are hookless bead. Tire sidewall says not for hookless!:( Ordered SCHWALBE PRO ONE TLE to replace after confirming with Schwalbe USA that fitment is okay for hookless bead.

My favorite So Far

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Been running tubeless for 4 years, on Giant SLR rims with 17mm internal width. I like these Vittorias better than the Giant Gavias that came with the bike, and better than the Hutchinson Sector 28s I mounted after I wore out the Giants. Why? 1: mounted easily without needing levers. 2: Sealed quickly with a little boost from the compressor. 3: Immediately held pressure overnight. 4: Riding them feels fast and smooth. One caution: these tires run narrower than the labeled size. 25mm measured just under 23, so I returned them and ordered 28s, which measure about 27. Only 150 miles so far, so I can't speak to durability. I have the same question as Giorgio regarding pressure. I find they work well at 65 - 70. Can't seem to get an answer to why the manufacturers all specify an unrealistically high minimum pressure.
