Description

Into the cold.

Winter training and dreary early season races call for a tire than can roll fast, wear slowly, and handle any number of temperatures and weather conditions. The Vittoria Rubino Pro Control G Plus Clincher Tire is up to the challenge with a hard wearing compound that grips well in any weather and can handle those frigid winter winds without impacting ride quality.

Vittoria constructs the Rubino Pro Control with a triple compound designed to provide a balance of durability, flat protection, fast rolling speed, and solid cornering grip in both dry and wet conditions. It also incorporates the revolutionary G+ Isotech compound, utilizing graphene within the triple compound mix to increase elasticity, reduce rolling resistance and overall weight, increase durability, and improve grip in wet weather compared to tires without the G+ Isotech compound. This tire is fast and supple regardless of weather and will conquer the roughest of roads with the smoothness of a racing tire and the durability of a training tire.

Gave them a shot, not in love

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

For a tire this heavy and low TPI, I was expecting to get a lot of life out of these guys. This was not the case. They are completely worn and falling apart after just a couple months of riding (about 1200 miles). They were pretty solid tires while they lived but I was not super impressed with neither the rolling resistance nor the longevity of these tires.

New and improved

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

With the addition of graphene, the Rubino line up has made a major step forward in terms of grip. While maintaining a decent weight and incredible durability the tire now offers up race level grip in all conditions.

In the past, I've felt felt a tire like this or the GP4000 all season was always a compromise when it came to weight, traction, and durability and I would pass on the purchase ultimately giving up flat protection for more grip. Glad to say there will be no more of that with these tires.
