VittoriaMezcal III G2.0 4C XC Trail Tire - 29in
Item # VIT004B
Mezcal III G2.0 XC-Trail Tire
Ideal for more technical cross country courses or tamer trail riding, the all-new Mezcal III G2.0 XC-Trail Tire from Vittoria offers fast rolling and impressive grip over multiple trail surfaces. Its densely packed and low profile knob configuration allows the Mezcal to cover more trail with less effort and its alternating center-ridge tread holds that speed. Cornering, braking, and climbing traction weren't overlooked though, and its numerous effective edges bite hard for impressive grip.
This particular version of the Mezcal is built using Vittoria's XC Trial casing with a 120TPI nylon casing and a reinforced sidewall for added protection on rocky trails and a tubeless-ready folding Aramid bead. Vittoria owns the only extruder in the world that allows for 4 compounds in a single tread which it then fortifies with Graphene 2.0.
This allows Vittoria to fine-tune the flex of the tread-base and tread-surface separately, placing the correct durometer Graphene 2.0 compound exactly where it is needed for maximum cornering, climbing, rolling, and braking performance. Additionally, durability and puncture protection is also improved, as the base compound resists punctures, and provides a more stable base for the tread.
- A fast-rolling mountain bike tire for tech XC or trails
- Small, closely-packed knobs lower rolling resistance
- Additional sidewall protection layer stands up to sharp rocks
- 120 nylon casing is lightweight and durable
- Numerous effective edges improve cornering, braking, and climbing traction
- Graphane 2.0 in the 4C compound balances grip, rolling resistance, and
- longevity

I went from 2.4 maxxis rekons to 2.35 mezcals. I have been running them for about 5 months now. First thing I notcied was how much faster they rolled compared to the rekons while not sacrificing any of the grippyness. Not great in the slop but are absolute rockets everywhere else. I have had a few punctures due to thorns but nothings stans cant fix. Putting them on was a bit difficult but that is probably due to my skill. Overall a great tire for xc racing and riding.

29 x 2.35 Not True to Size

If you want a tire that measures as advertised, dont buy this particular model and size. I have ordered from three different places and came with the same issue. Measured 2.1???, not even 2.2 . I went back to Continentals.

Take my review as a grain of salt, but I put these on a Giant Talon 2 29er with a 21mm Rim. Seem to be a perfect fit. Came from a Maxxis Ikon 2.20 so not a huge size difference but the tread pattern has immediately proved to be a huge benefit. Less slipping on climbs and can feel them digging into the dirt on every corner. I'll also add maybe because of how new they are but now I need to buy some fenders as these things kick dirt/sand up like crazy which lets me know they are doing their job. Went with a "Barzo Mullet" setup, (Mezcal in Back and Barzo in Front) Love the grey sidewalls as well.

Awesome, confident tire for mixed terrain -- single-track, rocks, dirt, gravel. (Wouldn't use them if a route involved much pavement.) Easy to mount tubelessly with floor pump and pressing bead in by hand. Held air perfectly. Beefy enough for a loaded bikepacking rig. I sized down from a 3" Bontrager to the 2.6" Mezcal without sacrificing grip or squish, but gained speed and stability/tracking.... these tires go where you point them and grip well whether going up or down.

Fast XC/Trail tire...unfortunately
- Fit:

I bought this tire last July 4 of this year...unfortunately this happened! After 5 rides and early this morning Iâm going for a ride and noticed my rear wheel is completely flat! So I decided to put an air but itâs weird coz I have no issues of tubeless tires regardless of any brand but for sure Vittoria is one of the best tire. But after I put an air the air didnât stay and heard leaking of air, so i decided to add Stans liquid by shaking the wheel and figured it out the Stans liquid oozing out on the side that the tire attached to rim. Then I try to remove to redo it again until I observed that thereâs a long tear on the bead of the tire! Then this afternoon I tried to chat with the name of Davis L. one of the Gearheads but unfortunately he wasnât helpful at all, instead he told me that I need to purchase a new one after all I said that Im going to send the pictures of the defective tire and he told me that I can send the pictures to him but how? He even not giving me or offer his email so I can send it to him?! So to make story short, I decided to call coz I have no choice coz Davis L. Hang up with me and I talked to Allie and sheâs so very helpful and smart after she pulled out my order history she noticed right away that itâs been not 30 days the tire give up bcoz of imperfection maybe or defective.,then after she talked with experts...she told me that they goin to replace me and that made my day! I donât Blame Backcountry itâs the staff that ruin their business bcoz of not doing their job. Hopefully Mr. Davis L. you will change and knows how to take care of customers by honesty, consistency and reliable. I did complained before but no issue at all after I told them what happened to the Stans liquid I ordered or even returns.Mr Davis L. I dunno how you came up to tell me to purchase a new order? Since I told you I can send you the pictures so that u can verify and all of the sudden...telling me â u can send the pictures as you could but Iâm dealing with other customers?! by not giving me ur email?wow! Anyway have a good day Mr. Davis L., but most of all thank you so much Ms. Allie for your great help... I greatly appreciated!

I like the round profile because the shape performs well on rock features. I also find these tires hold well on kitty litter type soil, roll smooth and hold up well. Good tire for dry conditions.

This tire is an ideal fit for me. Love the 2.35 width. Perfect balance between light weight efficient hardpack roller and a soft grippy single track tire that bites on just about everything. I've used it to test durability twice now on the 350 mile Huracan course in central FL. No complaints at all. It even aired up and grabbed the rim and sealed with a hand pump. A great do it all tire in my book

Pretty good XC/trail tire
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This tire delivers in dry conditions, when wet or loose its performance/traction falls off but remains predictable. I have raced a couple late summer races and used it for training during that time period as a rear tire @ 18-20psi tubeless. Durability hasn’t been a problem but only ~200miles thus far on it before swapping it out for fall/winter. The tire rolls great and I would love try the lighter casing version next season when things dry out here in Eastern PA. BTW, I weigh about 150-155lbs.

These are really becoming my favorite tire for the kind of riding I do (UT/ID single track). Vittoria makes a great quality tire. This one rolls well, holds up and is easy to mount up and seal onto the rim with a floor pump.

Hi Mike. I ride a lot in Park City. You think this is a good tire for that terrain? Have you tried the Barzo? I’ve been thinking of a front Barzo with rear Mezcal. Thanks!
