Even though tubular tires allow for lower air pressures and more puncture resistance, not everyone wants to splurge on a tubular wheelset. Vittoria's Cross XL Pro tires take the best of the Cross XL tubulars and translate them into a clincher version.

The Cross XL was built upon a 150tpi casing. The tread features aggressive, widely-spaced knobs to shed mud and grip firmly in acceleration, braking, and cornering. They are especially good for muddy conditions. Its suggested air pressure range is 45-90PSI which make it ideal for varying conditions.This tire is both tube and tubeless compatible, which gives you wheel options when it comes to training and racing. 

The Vittoria Cross XL Tire comes in two sizes: 700 x 31mm and 700 x 33mm. It is available in either Black or Anthracite/black.

Great CX Tire

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are fantastic CX tires, especially when the course gets muddy and slick. They hold a line, and have generally great traction in all conditions.
I have them setup tubeless with Bontrager alloy rims using their tubeless rim strips- no burps or issues running them down to 24 psi.

Normally going for a CX tire with HUGE tread blocks is a double edged sword...those same blocks that give you speed in the corners also taketh away when you're pedaling.

These tires seem to be the holy grail of both straight line speed and cornering magic. This was the tire I had been dreaming of.

Where these tires really shine is when it gets greasy. But let's back up to the dry and dusty conditions that most of us race in and where you'd be reluctant to use a tire this meaty: in dry conditions they let you dive under everyone around you in the turns, they are almost as fast as a file tread on the pavement (thanks to the fairly solid center tread) and as a plus - it would take you several seasons to even begin to show signs of wear on these tires.

I ride them from September until January.

Tubeless or tubular, you can't go wrong. No pavement squirm, they handle rocks well, and once the knobs can dig in, things get really exciting and in a good way.
