Description

Corsa G Plus Tire

Anyone with a passing interest in cycling tech has probably been exposed to the hype surrounding Vittoria's new quadruple compound design, the heart of which is a thin, nearly transparent layer of carbon called graphene. The claims made for this material have been impressive, but we weren't sure what to think until we got our hands on Vittoria's Corsa G Plus Clincher Tires. Vittoria blends four rubber compounds with the inclusion of graphene for the Corsa G, and, without throwing any hyperbole around, we'd say the difference is very noticeable.

The tires' 4C ISOtech construction, which allows for separate base and surface compounds to be strategically placed throughout the tire, made cornering feel smooth and consistent while the fast-rolling center reduces the atrophy of watts on straightaways. Vittoria claims that the elasticity and carbon construction of graphene creates an incredibly durable tire, but for even more reassurance, it adds KEVLAR to further reinforce the core spun K casing. With multiple cotton fibers twisted together to create one yarn, core spun casings are significantly stronger than typical casings, and they don't add additional weight to the tire.

The Corsa G's luxurious 320 TPI is a final element that sets it apart from other tires. TPI measures the number of threads per inch in a tire's casing, with higher counts equating to a lighter tire with a suppler ride. Whether it's due to the high TPI, the claimed benefits of graphene, or a combination of both, we can attest to the Corsa G's supple road feel and ability to smooth chattering chip seal surfaces. In the clincher version, each Corsa G Plus will add between 235g and 265g to your frame, depending on size, and the tires' classic, gum-wall aesthetic makes them an eye-catching addition to your frame.

  • A superlative cycling race tire
  • 4C ISOtech construction blends multiple compounds
  • Graphene reinforces without compromising road feel
  • 320 TPI core spun casing is race-day supple
  • Classic style of gum walls

I've read plenty of mixed review and was very cautious with this investment. But I figured, "F it." I've been on a few 100 plus mile rides so far with these. I even commuted to work with these tires, several times. The area I live has plenty of beat city roads, litter, broken glass, etc... I have had a couple nice cuts in them but I always inspect my tires after a ride and fill cuts in with super glue mixed with baking soda. I even fill my tubes with sealant ( yes. it works). So far Im really loving these tires. They corner nice and I dig the noise they make. I have 25mm rubbers wrapped on Hunt Aero 34 Wide wheels and they measure out to be 28mm when I have them inflated to about 80 +/- PSI. They handle my heavier self pretty damn well.

I rode these tires on the same roads I normally ride through eastern Queens, NY and they only lasted 155 miles before a small gash in the front tire opened up. They roll great and they look great but they are too delicate for anything other than race day.

Perfect for vintage road bike

I got a set of these Vittoria tires for my 35 year old vintage Italian road bike. I've been using blackwall tires on this bike for several years, but they just don't look right with a vintage frame and components. So far, I'm happy with these Vittoria G-plus tires with two exceptions - they are very hard to install (on vintage Mavic G40 rims) and I got a flat within the first 20 miles of riding on these - maybe just luck, don't know. In any case, I'm glad to have these tires for this particular bike.

I have been using these tires for about 2 months. I recently ordered another two. We have some very rough roads in NC . The pressure that I run is 92 in the front and 95 in the rear. These 25 mm tires have made road cycling enjoyable for me. I have used other tires over the last two years . The others do not roll as smooth as the Vittoria . I wish these were sold in a twin pack by Competitive Cyclist.

This Vittoria tire, Corsa G Plus, feels a lot like all the others I have used,,,,CGs and CX's ...smooth, supple ride easy on my back side...not the most durable, but the route I ride is predominantly smooth and well swept by street cleaners, so I have had no problem with punctures until the tread gets really thin. I will keep buying them because I enjoy how they feel.

This is a review of the Vittoria Corsa COrsa G-Plus. I used this Vittoria tire today over the same roads and under the same conditions that I have used Continental 4000 II s tires (for tens of thousands of miles). Conti 4000's give me around 3,000 miles. I got 47.3 miles of service out of this Vittoria tire. They stopped making the Conti 4000 and the replacement 5000 gets mixed reviews. So I thought I'd try another tire. The Corsa G-Plus tire tore a hole 1/4 X 1/4 inch from passing over a pebble. Sure, at the end of life of a Conti 4000 there will be evident slits on the tread contact surface of around 1/8 inch in length but I've never had one fail from that - and certainly not like this Corsa tire did. Granted, my experience is with only one Corsa Plus tire and only over 47 miles.....but that's enough for me. People may not seem crazy about the current Conti 5000 that replaces the 4000 but it has to be better than Vittoria Coras Plus.

They sound just as awesome as they look!

I’ve had these for over a year now, I use to run continentals which ok too but the Look of the Vittoria is what drew me in this gum wall... awesome. However after getting over the look of them and actually starting to put them to work.. the ride quality it unmatched! It’s comfortable and also quite responsive enough in races. When it’s just you and your bike on the open the road they sound... awesome. I haven’t had a puncher issue, none more than a typical tire and I’ve done well over a thousand miles. Only reason I’m not giving it 5stars is because after a year now it has a small part of the tire that looks like it’s lifting of the body.. but again that’s year later. Bottom line yes I would and have recommend this!

Switched from Continentals. Waited 6 months to put these on, and 2 rides in they are falling apart. Switching back ASAP.

Great experience so far-

Familiarity:

I've been running these on my single speed for the past 6 months, have logged around 800 miles and they've been great. A lot of those miles have been under load, as I have panniers and haul everything from groceries to golf clubs on trips to the driving range. I'm almost exclusively an urban cyclist (Wash, DC) and have had one flat (front, gnarly piece of glass that would've split a tank tread) only. Really smooth ride as well. Just bought 2 more as they're on sale.

I have ridden Vittoria tires for years so I bought 6 of Corsa G's on sale. Terrible decision. ALL of the tires failed quickly so I can't really tell you what tread life is like. The tires are easily cut (fatal) by glass or debris and goatheads/thorns go right through the tire. If you have these, carry a tire boot - you will need it. My riding buddies started making fun of me given the frequency of failure.

They get cut like crazy. Nice ride comfort

Too Many Flats

3 flats in about 12 rides. Finally replaced them. I was running at 100 psi.

Had a pair of slicks on my Cervelo R2 when I purchased it so when it came time to replace I thought I'd try these. So far, smooth ride and great control on turns. Only have about 200 miles on them, and using latex tube so only running about 85 psi.

these tires = TRASH = disposable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Bought 2. Used 1. 3 flats in 10 rides on 1 tire. Only 1 of the 3 flats (the 2nd one) had any likely cause. The first was super clean flat road & nobody saw anything & nobody else flatted. The third, similar. This tire has roughly zero puncture resistance. It even feels trashy thin.

I have had at least 4 pairs of these. On my wife's bike, I put on a brand new 23mm set and noticed that after 2-3 rides on smooth, new tarmac the tread was peeling away from the tube. Probably a defective tire but for the price and importance, I'm done with these.

DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Having raced and ridden road bikes over 20 years I have never had a clincher roll off a rim, until now. I ordered these tires on thinking thinking I got a good deal when I mounted them on my zipp 404s they hooked up easy. (Now I know too easy) anyway tires had less than 100 miles on them when they came with me to Gateway Cup this year. On the 3rd day of racing the tire literally blew off the rim going through a corner. Sounded bike a gun shot when it blew off (Was running 110 psi) Luckily I came away with just a little road rash however another guy in the field who went down with me ended up breaking his wrist. Although tires ride nicely, they also fit too loose on rims to be effective. Don't risk yourself or your fellow mates in the peloton with these tires. Photo below shows sidewall blowout after tire rolled off rim

I had the same thing happen to me, I was running at 36mph downhill on Reynolds ARX 58s, gunshot sound and sidewalk puncture!

Solid.

Ordered these in the gum color way, look great ,super soft and comfortable ride at 110PSI on a 25mm. Great tire!

Fantastic Tires

I just recently bought these tires so I can't comment on the durability but the ride is the best I've had.

3 years and counting.

I have these tires on 3 of my 4 road bikes and have to say they’re pretty good. I have 3 years and over 2k on 2 sets of them without punctures. That’s pretty god for a race type of tire. I also road these on the gravel roads of Eroica California without any issues. They climbed exceptionally well and were very comfortable. Others with tubular tires suffered many punctures.

Good Tire Great Price

I've always ridden Continential GP 4000's Tires. However, I love the look of these so I decided to give them a try. Considering how much more the Specialized Turbo Cotton cost I thought this would be a great substitute for the look I want. These tires look great and run fast. Not sure about durability yet only time will tell. I will say that the color or the side wall seems to vary depending on where they come from.

Fast tires

These are very fast tires. They roll very smooth and have excellent grip while cornering. All the hype about them is true.
