Dishing Tool

Wheelbuilding can be a very rewarding skill to have and besides getting just the tension and true correct, the rim needs to be centered over the hub, also known as dish. Additionally, some frames require an asymmetric offset to accommodate the rear wheel being spaced correctly between the seat and chainstays. Having the right tool makes all the difference and verifying the dish quick and easy. If your starting to seriously tinker with wheels, you won't want to be without the Dishing Tool from Unior.

Unior has an almost 100-year history of building quality tools and this shop quality Dishing Tool is crafted of steel and polyethylene. One of our favorite features is its sliding spacers, allowing us to use the tool with wheels ranging from 16 to 29-inches without having to remove the tire. Simply place the spacers on the rim and slide the indicator until it makes contact with the hub locknut. Flip the wheel over and check to see if the rim is centered, and if not, how far off it is and make adjustments to spoke tension from there.
