Great for Sweeping Hearts...and Courses
- I've used it several times
Is that a directional marker in your pack or are you just happy to see me? Those aren't mutually exclusive... The Fastpack 25 lets you slip in marking flags, wooden stakes, and previously-shed clothing right next to your bladder. After the first 15 minutes of turning around quickly to see who is following you, you realize that's just the flags whispering in your ear. Because you forgot about your load. The FP25 holds on to you tight and makes sure to flow with your motion and not bounce around awkwardly. You can stay hydrated with sips from your bottles, perky and high on your chest. There's plenty of room under them to stuff flagging in the pockets or keep your phone handy for documenting your exploration. Need some protection? There's a zipper pocket in the back to keep your toys safe and secure. Two side pockets and a larger back pocket outside the main pouch give you options to air out any sullied accessories. Don't be shy, give the FP25 a try.

- I've put it through the wringer
I've gone through several small, lightweight packs looking for a great day-hiker as well as one that could be used for one day alpine climbs such as Mt. Hood in Oregon. This pack fits the bill 99.9%. The front strap water bottle pockets allow me to leave the hydro bladder at home. It has carry loops for ice axes and enough space for gear and a small rope. The roll top allows you to expand or reduce capacity as needed. The only thing keeping it from being 100% or 5 stars are the stupid roll top buckles. They are one way buckles meaning they only click together one way. So if you've got the opening rolled up and it is not aligned, you either have to do another roll or unroll to have the buckle correctly lined up. Not a deal breaker by any means, but I can't figure out why they would ever consider using that type of buckle. Otherwise, it is pretty much perfect. My goal is to see if I can get everything in it for an overnighter--then I would truly have achieved ultralight status :-)

Solid running pack
- I've put it through the wringer
As someone who runs to work every day I needed a pack that could fit all of my things and be comfortable. I run between 5 and 15 miles a day with this pack and it fits quite well, and has plenty of room for me to over pack. The pack is not very waterproof so extra dry bagging is required for adventures in the wet. This sizing on this pack is a bit off, I bought a M/L and have the straps tighten down most of the way to get a fit that I like for running. That said once I got it how I like, it is very comfortable to run with and I have had little to no rubbing issues. Quality wise the pack has held up to quite a beating and is in surprisingly solid condition. I had an issue with the front zipper pocket coming unstitched, I reached out to Ultimate Direction's customer service and they were willing the pack under warrantee. But due to lead time I re-sew it myself and have had no issues since. After several thousand miles most of the piping around on the bottom of the back as well as on the straps, but this has not had an effect on fit. My biggest complaint is my pack has picked up a strong aroma which is hard to remove.
