Description

Competitor 6in Tri Short

Come race day, you need every advantage that you're able to get. However, when it comes to triathlon shorts, matching an advantage with a disadvantage is common practice. By this, we mean that shorts that're fast on land are typically slow in the water. Conversely, shorts that are comfortable are completely lacking in aero- and hydrodynamics. Luckily, though, TYR has dedicated itself to creating a triathlon apparel that excels in all three disciplines. And as a result, we all benefit from pieces like the Competitor 6in Tri Women's Short.

For the bulk of the Competitor Tri short's construction, TYR used a blend of nylon and spandex. This choice in fabric blend provides a supportive, yet non-constrictive, structure, while remaining soft-to-the-touch. Additionally, with the elasticity of the added spandex content, the resulting material is granted a four-way stretch. So, your freedom of movement is guaranteed, regardless of the discipline at hand.

More importantly, though, the fabric presented here is incredibly efficient at managing moisture. Essentially, perspiration and water are pulled away from the skin and transported to the quick-drying surface of the top. In fact, this characteristic has been further through TYR's incorporation of strategically placed panels. As a result, thermo-regulation is maintained at a consistent level, while your dryness is guaranteed, minimizing the risk of discomfort.

In terms of fit, TYR designed the Competitor Tri shorts for competitors, meaning that it's ready for endurance racing. It features a comfort beaded silicone leg hem, a stretch-woven drawcord, and an ample, six-inch inseam. As a result of the latter, the shorts experience more surface area coverage, which results in an increase in both compressive support and resistance to wetsuit chafing.

Furthering this level of comfort, TYR included its new Competitor AMP chamois. This insert features a minimalist construction as to provide enough support for the bike leg without inhibiting comfort in either the swim or run. And because of the swim, TYR also designed the Competitor to be water-resistant and quick-drying. So, you won't be racing soggy after T1.

NOTE: To cater to different needs and budgets, TYR engineers two triathlon lines. Competitor garments offer a compressive fit, while carbon garments offer a super compressive fit for a second-skin feel. You should select your same, standard size for both carbon and competitor garments but expect slightly different fits.
How to Measure:
For best results take measurements over your underwear, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Waist:
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Hip:
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hip.
Torso:
With someone's help, run a tape measure full circle from your shoulder at the neck, over the fullest part of your chest, down through the center of your crotch and back up to the starting point.
