Why We Like The Descendant Carbon Eagle DUB Crankset

The TruVativ Descendant Carbon Eagle DUB Crankset, sees a bit of a facelift this season, with parent company SRAM bestowing it with newfangled DUB technology. DUB technology features a newly-engineered bottom bracket and an optimized spindle design. This allows for superior fitment and better sealing against contamination and is the intersection of where stiffness meets durability, with no compromises. By better integrating the relationship between the chainring, crank, spindle, and bottom bracket you'll get a better performing and longer lasting drivetrain. You'll have to use a new DUB bottom bracket with this crank but the good news is it's backward compatible with existing frame designs. This means more time on the trails and less time troubleshooting creaks and worn out components. The Descendant Carbon is the same quality construction and wallet-friendly price point we've come to expect from TruVativ that's light enough for XC yet burly enough for enduro.

Carbon fiber arms transfer the power from your legs into the aluminum direct mount chainrings creating a lightweight crankset that is ready to go out of the box with a single-ring setup. The X-SYNC chainring maximizes chain control, with each tooth CNC-machined to support the chain's inner- and outer-links. This machining process provides a variable thickness from tooth-to-tooth, so the chain is essentially locked onto the chainring preventing it from jumping off over rough terrain.

Direct mount chainrings also allow for quick swaps to different size rings if you have a big mountain enduro one weekend and an all-day backcountry epic the next.

  • A stiff and durable crankset for enduro and trail riders
  • Light and reliable carbon fiber construction shaves grams
  • DUB technology improves bearing performance and improves stiffness
  • One diameter spindle fits various frame shell standards
  • X-SYNC tooth design improves chain retention on rough trails

Will these cranks work with 12 speed and 148 read hub?

Great set for the price

I've used it several times

I recommend people to buy this crank

Great preforming carbon crank

I've used it several times

it may not be the lightest but if you need carbon this is a great crank and upgrade from the standard GX and most aluminum cranks. It does have some amazing value for the price. If you are looking for some other great cranks in ALU check rotor and if you need fancier carbon the ethirteen look pretty sexy!

Best Kept Secret in MTB

I've put it through the wringer

I have no idea why more people don't run this crank. A carbon crankset at $260?!?!? You've got to question durability at this pricepoint but then again, it's got the beefy, DH proven name behind it, DESCENDANT! I actually purchased these for a pretty sick dirt jump bike build and couldn't be happier. They withstand me casing skate parks and pools and zero flex when sprinting towards the jump line. I can't imagine anything harder on a crank. I've thrown a OneUp Switch ring on mine to quickly change gearing for my location and it's the perfect combo. If you're in the market for a carbon crankset, save yourself some coin and do Descendant!

How well have/did these hold up on the DJ bike? These cranks were spec’d on my Transition Sentinel and I love them, but a little hesitant to purchase them for a DJ I’m currently building up.

Worth the money

I've had this crank on a couple different bikes now and have been quite impressed with it. For the money, it's pretty light, holds up to a lot of abuse, and looks good on the bike. The DUB platform helps save a bit more weight off, while still seeming plenty stiff for your average rider. I usually put the small crank boots on the arms to keep marks from pedal strikes at a minimum.

my go to

I've put it through the wringer

I have this crank on a couple bikes now, and a couple previous. They are priced really well for a carbon crank and have held up through much abuse. They look great and perform every bit as well. Highly recommended.
