Truvativ's Descendant line has enjoyed a long history as a workhorse group of components, tested on the rigors of the pro circuit before being released to the masses. For 2016, parent-company SRAM sought to freshen up the somewhat outdated aesthetics of the cranksets, and the resulting Truvativ Descendant 11-Speed GXP Direct Mount Crankset represents a clean, well-executed makeover that firmly announces Descendant's march towards the future.
Stiffness and durability earned the highest priority as SRAM redesigned the Descendent Crankset, but ease of use and overall practicality were clearly considered as well. In adopting a direct mount ring, SRAM shaved weight from prior models, and it bestowed a single updated X-SYNC chainring upon it, complete with its commendable tooth profile to engage your chain early and help it function eagerly in muddy, sticky conditions.
Made with forged 7000-series aluminum, the Descendant's construction blends lightness and durability with uncompromising rigidity to handle big hits and hard landings without showing distress. Plus, for those of you have a habit of bashing your chainring on rocks more times than you can count during a ride, the Descendant gives you the option to add a bash guard for extra reassurance, and it also works with any of SRAM's 1x drivetrains.
