Compared to the standard Spyre, the Spyre SLC's incorporation of a carbon actuation lever trims a bit of weight and actually makes for more responsive braking. The Spyre SLC's even braking is no doubt helped by its dual-side actuation, which lets both pads squeeze instead of leaving one fixed. Less pad wear, less rotor wear, less potential for warping—the benefits of dual-sided actuation are legion.

will the trp caliper work with campy chorus levers?

Worth it.

I've put it through the wringer

Maybe a minute more difficult to set up than the Avid Mechanical BB5 or BB7. Works on my road bike, where I average 5000+ feet of climb and descend per week. Go through about an average of one set of pads a year, and these slow and stop me in just the way they are supposed to. At 180 pounds on carbon wheels, these keep me safe.
