Slate G-Spec Disc Brake

When TRP started working with multi-time World Cup champion and downhill superstar Aaron Gwin, it not only helped improve its brakes with his feedback, it also put the brand on the radar of a lot more riders. The brakes were pretty good to begin with, offering a good balance of power and modulation and an impressive track record with reliability. Gwin's contributions mostly consisted of ergonomic improvements needed to feel more comfortable at unbelievable professional DH speeds on downright hellacious courses. Aaron worked with TRP's development team, and refinements were made along the way. The resulting Quadium brakes receiving the Gwinner's treatment were dubbed G-Spec, and these changes have carried over to the Slate trail brake.

The G-Spec Slate lever is constructed from cast aluminum and is painted in a speedy silver finish. The lever features a dimpled and drilled lever blade designed by Aaron Gwin himself, and it feels incredible at your fingertips with or without gloves. The tool-free indexed reach adjustment lets you dial them in just so, for precise braking every time. Like the Quadium, the top pad loading caliper utilizes a four-piston design moving two different diameter pistons for excellent power on demand, low noise, and it optimizes the modulation. The four ceramic/steel hybrid pistons help improve heat dissipation so your braking is consistent on the entire run, from the top of the mountain to the bottom.
