Description

Turn up the noise.

You like to bring the party to the trail, whether you're charging loamy lines in the Pacific North West, or hammering up steep slickrock in the dusty desert of Utah, and you need a short that can stand up to the trail when you feel like getting a bit rowdy. The Troy Lee Ruckus Shorts make a good case for themselves, packing in durability and waterproofing that holds up to misty mornings, and bushwacking through the backcountry in search for the perfect ridgeline. They are crafted from a stretchy blend of polyester and spandex that moves with you on the bike, and while naturally wicking fibers pull away sweat to keep you cool and comfortable. This year the cut was redesigned to better fit women in the aggressive riding position by adding in a bi-stretch rear panel, and and an articulated fit when crouched on the bike, and getting way behind the saddle on steep descents. Both mesh panels and laser perforations help you keep cool when the temperatures rise, so tedious fire road climbs don't feel quite so stifiling.

  • Attack the trail with rugged shorts that are ready to rally
  • Four-way stretch for riding without restriction
  • Sits just below the knee for optimal coverage
  • Large zippered cargo pockets secure essentials
  • Redesigned waist elevates comfort and style
  • Mesh panels boost breathing, and inner thigh vents drop heat
  • Pairs well with your favorite pads for rowdy days
  • Toss on your go-to chamois to customize your comfort

How to Measure:
Jersey measurements on this chart represent measurements of the actual garment and not of the person wearing it. To figure out your size: take a piece that fits you well, lay it down flat, and whip out the tape measure. Compare your results with the numbers here, and choose your size accordingly.
1/2-Chest:
Measure across the broadest part of the front of your chest, at armpit level, keeping the measuring tape parallel to the ground.
Front Length:
While standing upright, measure the distance between your waist (typically at navel or top of the hip bone level) and the top of your shoulder, to the left or right of your spine.
Sleeve Length:
Standing up straight with your arms at your sides, measure from the base of your neck at the center of your spine, along the top of your shoulder and down to your wrist bone, along the outside of the arm.
Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.

fits small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I want to like these shorts and keep them, however they run small for baggies--I ordered XL to make sure they were baggy/looser fitting (I wear a 10-12) and they fit tighter than my large shorts from Sombrio. They were snug through my thighs, which if it wasn't for the stretch quality of the fabric, probably wouldn't even have fit my thighs, and come on, mountain biking leads to thicker thighs in all sizes. The yellow color is slightly more brown than mustard as well. It's disappointing that these companies make women's athletic clothing so tight, it discourages curvier women from being outdoors, and I'm by no means the curviest girl I've seen out on trails wanting to enjoy sports and activities and get/stay healthy.

Is the fly Velcro or zipper? Last year’s version had a Velcro fly and the stickiness is almost gone after less than 1 year of use.

Hey there, this year there is a zipper closure! its way better!

The Go-To Shorts

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

The shorts certainly lean more on the Enduro side vs. Trail shorts. Thicker mesh, great durability, but also a bit on the baggier side. Seeing as my wife is as far from a lycra-cowgirl as you can get they were the perfect shorts for her. She did originally order Medium, she is 5'5", 135 lbs. and wears an 8 usually, but she is in between sizes and ended up with a Large. The Large sits a bit lower on her waist, which in turn makes them longer, but gives a better overall fit. All and all, these are her new go-to shorts and has multiple pairs.

Pretty Great Shorts

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

While we generally favor Yeti, these are pretty great as well and manage to hold their own. The liner seems to be quality, especially considering the price. The shorts are a bit lengthy, but still manage to be comfortable and breathable.
