Description

Push your limits.

You're well-stocked with heavier pads for the days you ride the lifts with your downhill rig, but hard-shell protection has no place when you're tearing around the XC course. Crashes still happen on smooth singletrack, but they'll be a lost less of an inconvenience if you're wearing Troy Lee Designs' Method XC Knee Sleeves. Flexible and breathable, the sleeves won't get in your way when you're spinning the pedals, but they also won't give in at the first brush with a rock or tree, courtesy of their rugged 600D polyester construction. TLD added lightweight KEVLAR cushioning to protect your knees from unyielding trail features, and constructed the sleeve with an anti-slip shape so you don't waste time readjusting on the course.

Great for skiing

I wear knee pads for skiing because they keep my knees really warm and allow me to wear shorts (under my ski pants) kinda like a hockey player. These pads keep my knees warm and don't get too hot and gross in the cooler temperatures. The padding in the knees is really light and it is ergonomically shaped so there is a left and a right side. They allow my knees to move really well and don't make me feel like i'm wearing a brace.

I own another pair of TLD knee pads, the speed knee sleeve

The only reason why I took a star off my review is because the sizing is different then the speed knee sleeve, but over time the elastic will stretch out. Overall its a great kneepad if you need something simple.

    slim

very minimal pad. I wanted a little beef and went with the speed knee sleeve instead

      Too hot, too uncomfortable...

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These seriously need to be tested by a rider first. These are not comfortable and they are way too hot. Your knees and back of knee will be soaked after riding for 10 minutes. Go with something that has good ventilation on the back of the knee. I had to return and couldn't be happier with Alpine Star. I love Troy Lee but this totally missed the mark.

      Solid, Slim, Protection

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Firstly, I'm about 5'10 and 165lbs. I got the M/L size and it fits pretty well. They are really lightweight and have worn them for some decent climbs with no issues. They don't have a solid shell and you can feel it on impacts. However it keeps your knees in pretty good shape considering the minimal material/padding. Two hard crashes on em and they are still held together well, with only some bruises on me. Sometimes the elastic/gel/rubber/grip on the top of the pad rubs and pulls the leg hair but if you get it situated properly, the issue is minimized. Overall a solid knee pad I'm going to keep til it falls apart.
