Full-faced helmets have their place on rowdy lift laps and jumps, but some days aren't as extreme, so it's good to have a Troy Lee Designs A2 MIPS Helmet waiting in the wings. Building on a well-earned reputation for hard-hitting motocross and gravity protection, the A2 transitions protection to lighter duty trails with massive venting, ample coverage, and MIPS technology to keep you cool under duress.
With 25% more ventilation than that found on TLD's venerable A1 helmet, the A2 MIPS promotes cooling airflow and encourages constant air movement across your dome. A removable, soft and plushy X-Static Pure Silver liner sits comfortably against your head, fending off the stink produced by bacteria and drying quickly to keep you cool. Not to ignore fit, the A2 MIPS helmet incorporates a three-position adjustable retention system for a custom, easily dialed fit.
- A lightweight helmet built for all-day trails
- MIPS technology reduces rotational force in certain crashes
- EPS and EPP foam mix absorbs low and high speed impact
- Extended coverage at back and temples increases protection area
- Large vents promote cooling airflow
- Highly adjustable retention system dials in the fit
- Visor fends off branches and glaring sun

Troy lee rocks!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Awesome helmet, super comfortable and true to size. Exceptional well vented and adjustable!
Great helmet with MIPS!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I am often in between a medium and small in bike helmets with a 56 cm head circumference. I chose the small (54-56cm) helmet and it has worked out great. I can still dial it in for a snug fit. The ventilation on this helmet is good, it's feather light, comfortable during long rides, and has a great low profile look(for a bike helmet). The only issue I could find is that the visor is not easy to adjust, otherwise, it's superb. The A2 is a bit on the higher end of helmet pricing, however, with the added MIPS protection, good ventilation and not so bulky style this helmet is a great choice.
Best fit for my head shape
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Unlike Smith helmets don't cup my head very well (they seem to be more shallow), Troy Lee Designs fits perfect. I love the redesign of the A2 which fits sunglasses easier under the cap.
Protect your Brain!!!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
After getting a concussion, I did a lot of research and purchased this helmet. I think it is the best helmet for the brain and skull. It's the only one I could find that has dual density foam, which helps absorb energy. It also has MIPS which is good for rotational forces. It is lighter than the 6D and looks great. I am going to purchase the same helmet for my kids.
Another Great helmet from Troy Lee!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: XL
I've been wearing TLD helmets for years, and while fit is a very personal thing I find that there helmets fit my head shape the best.
I was previously wearing a TLD A1, which I really like and it saved me big time in an over the bars crash.
Since replacing it with this, I have been nothing but impressed. The A2 does everything the A1 does, just better. I find that it breathes it significantly better, and you can see that just by looking at it. It's filled with large vents. That combined with exceptional coverage for a trail helmet make it the best helmet out there for.
Great Helmet

I have had a couple of different helmets over the years and this is my favorite. Its a great fit. looks good, feels good.
Looks great, but didn't work for me.
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I've got a wierd melon. At 23 inches I'm on the big end of a medium and the small end of a large. With a sweat band the medium is too small, but the large looks like I should be cast on spaceballs. Ended up returning it.
Awesome!

Great Lightweight helmet with a good fit. Looks clean and protects your dome, not much more Id want from a helmet.
Amazing Helmet

This is by far the best helmet I've ever used. If you like the A1 then you will love this helmet. Same great fit with awesome venting and style. Tons of color options to choose from too. Hard to beat!
I love my A2

I was reading a lot of reviews on MTB helmet and Troy Lee A2 came up on the top. I have to say I love this helmet, it’s worth it.
Looks Awesome
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Troy Lee always looks awesome and works great. This helmet is no different. It does have some adjustments on the back to dial in the size and chin straps. Has mips and feels great. I would recommend this helmet to anyone who bikes and is looking for safety and style.
Excellent Helmet
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This is the best MTB helmet I have ever owned...it's the third one I've bought in the last four years. Great quality. Very lightweight and adjustable. I'm really glad I decided on the A2.
Hi there, my head circumference is about 23.25". What size would you recommend for this helmet?
XL/XXL fits a head circumference of 22.6 - 24.8in.

I'm a size 22 and have a hard time getting a good fit, usually get a medium and have to tighten it all the way down. Would the XS/SM in the A2 be the correct size to go with? Thanks
Hey William,
Great question as the size ranges for Troy Lee are different than a lot of other brands. If you measure 22 inches, I would do the XS/S and that should fit just fine.
Great helmet
This is far and away the best helmet I’ve ever worn in my 30 years of mtn biking. The fit is fantastic, very comfortable and light yet you just feel totally protected. I bought a second one to have where I spend about a week a month and have my old bike.
Put a lid on it
Very comfortable and stylish helmet. My first MIPS experience and it seems to have a great fit. I got this helmet to provide more coverage for enduro racing.
Fantastic!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I was recently inspired to invest in a better helmet after the death of a mountain biker on one of our local trails... It didn't take long for me to decide on this Troy Lee helmet when shopping around. This model came in XL--perfect for my fat head. .. As I was unpacking, my first impression was that this helmet has been meticulously engineered and designed for safety. It looked impressive just sitting in its box! Today was the first day that I wore it on a ride, and I can say without a doubt that this is the best mountain biking helmet I have ever owned. The difference between a $135 helmet (this one) and a $65 dollar helmet is truly insane. What you get for $135 will not only possibly save your life one day, but also make you feel good that you are doing the best you can to protect your precious melon! Buy one!
Awesome
Great fit and light weight
Great Helmet
Like most TLD products, this helmut has been great. The fit is perfect and the ventilation is amazing.
