Why We Like The A1 MIPS Helmet

Building on Troy Lee Designs' heritage of hard-hitting gravity and motocross protection, the A1 MIPS Helmet provides bomber protection in a lightweight package to top off epic enduro runs and technical trail adventures. Featuring the same extended protection at the back of the head and around the temples as the standard A1, the A1 MIPS steps the safety up a notch with the inclusion of the Multi-Directional Impact Protection (MIPS) system for an extra boost of Impact force dissipation any time you (literally) hit the trail.

In addition to its penchant for safety, the A1 MIPS boasts a heap of features to keep you cool and comfortable. A total of 16 large vents usher cooling airflow and encourage constant air movement across your dome. A removable, soft and plushy Coolmax liner sits comfortably against your head, fending off the stink produced by bacteria, and not to ignore fit, the A1 MIPS helmet incorporates a three-position adjustable retention system for a custom, easily dialed fit.

Runs small

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Seems like a good quality helmet and nicely styled. I ordered according to my measured head size which was borderline L-XL. I picked L and it is way too small. I suggest ordering up one size.

If it ain't broke - don't fix it.

Familiarity:

I'm on my 4th A1. Big fan of this helmet for all of it's features - but mostly the fit. I have tried to "update" to the Troy Lee A2 or A3 and those helmets just don't fit me very well (the A3 fits terribly in fact). They are designed with a different shape. With that said, I would like some updates to the A1 buckle - the magnet is nice. With that said, the A1 just fits right. It is not a modified road helmet that I will use on a mountain bike. May not be the best for an XC racer as it is a little warm.

Good choice

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As trusted, Troy Lee puts out a other great helmet. My ONLY complaint, is I wish the did individual sizes. Other than that, it performs well.

Worst helmet >° of all time.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I would of returned it if I had other options during the pandemic but I had to replace my old one and so it was used. The helmet sits low in front and blocks your forward periphery. It has two points that come down on the back of my neck. It did fade after awhile. So I'll give that a pass. The padding has peeled apart and is now just hanging. The adjuster dial in back is partially stripped Not enough vents. Holds lots of sweat I would never =N buy this again or recommend.

Best HELMET HAIR

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Loving this helmet. Light weight, adjustable, comfortable, breathable....good looking and protects my brainy bits. Normal head and i got the xs/s, its secure and feels good. Go for the best to save your brains. **recent crash, hit the ground hard enough to dent my helmet. Without the good technology i dont even know what sort of condition my head would be in. Just purchased another helmet...and looking forward to getting back on the saddle.
