Why get a full rack if you don't plan on carrying skis, boats, and luggage—save some cash with the Ride-On Adaptor.
Thule's Ride-On Adapter is the middleman between your car's factory rack and almost any Thule Bike carrier. If you don't want to invest in an entire Thule rack, you can simply get the Ride-On Adapter and save tons of cash. The adapter comes with universal mounting hardware that attaches to most factory racks. It comes with 32in load bars so there's room for two bikes. Strong, level load bars provide an ideal platform for mounting your bike. It works with the Thule Criterium and Big Mouth upright carriers as well as V2, Velo Vise, and Long Tray Classic fork mount carriers.

I have Honda CRV with factory installed...
I have Honda CRV with factory installed cross bars. I also have Thule cross bars. Can I purchase the Thule universal mount only. I want to attach a Thule Big Mouth 599XRT to my CRV factory installed cross bars.
Have you checked Thule's fitguide? It's a super useful tool for determining your vehicles compatibility with Thule products.
Very easy to use. I don't know what Anonymous is talking about but the system is EXTREMELY stable on the roof, I have left it on my Subaru for extended periods of time with no worry that it would come loose. It is also very easy to install, ~5 minutes including mounting the bikes.
The only reason I held back the fifth star is that there should be an easier way to adapt a rack system without having to add a whole second set of bars to the roof.
This rack worked great as a cost effective measure to carry a 3rd bike on my roof. One of the other riders had an old Thule roof rack that would not fit the factory racks of his new car nor mine. He's planning on getting these adapters also. Now that I have them, I plan to get a newer model roof rack. This is better than having to totally replace my factory racks in addtion to the cost of the roof rack. I normally do not need access to carry a third bike.
My only wish is that Thule would make all their items universal to factory racks.
Bottom line: This is a great purchase if you already have a Thule product that does not fit factory racks.
Get what you pay for.
Save the money and buy the complete system for your vehicle. Not the typical THULE product quality. I am scared to use it with MY bikes. I have 4 THULE rack systems on 4 vehicles. I can't get much information from THULE on load ratings for this product.
