Pivoting Tandem Carrier
Thule's Pivoting Tandem Carrier enables one person to load a tandem bike on the roof of their car. Thule designed the Tandem Carrier to be easy to mount to either square or round load bars so that you don't have to leave the bike carrier on your vehicle all the time. When you can't find someone to ride on the other seat of your tandem, just convert the Tandem Carrier into a conventional bike tray for solo rides.
- Tandems are for two but this rack is for you
- Fork-mount tandem rack pivots outward for easier loading
- Total tray length of 75in with removable rear section
- Can carry single-rider bike with section removed
- Fits Thule square and round bars

We have a Rans Screamer Tandem Recumbent...
We have a Rans Screamer Tandem Recumbent bike that we want to transport on a Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer. Would like to know if anyone has used the Thule pivoting tandem carrier (we don't necessarilary need the pivoting action) or could recommend another carrier. Thanks

Elegant, Solid solution
This is a very good rack, but not quite as easy to use as I was first led to believe. Simplicity is a hallmark of this rack, and that is generally good. However, the only thing that pivots is the the part that grabs the bike's front fork. It still takes considerable effort to get the front fork into that pivoting portion and to swing the rest of the bike onto the roof. It's definitely better to have the pivoting system, but it's still awkward and there's a fair chance of the bike scratching the car during loading. Also on cars with rear hatches, the extended portion of the rack hits the back window when the hatch is opened. Still, I recommend this rack.

Thule pivoting tandem rack
After 20 years of using the old Thule tandem roof rack which took two people and much effort to load I had enough of strained back and relationship. The pivoting rack is a dream to use. I can load the tandem by myself and my wife and riding partner is now happy. We are ready to hit the road. All she has to do now is remember to bring the rest of the gear.

Perfect tandem transport
I upgraded from a fixed tandem to this model. It's ultra-light, has a functional design, and is easy to load. It's also competitively priced here.

I have not used this with a Recumbent but after looking up the length and size of the Rans Screamer Tandem it should be generally the same length (wheel base) as a standard Tandem and will load the same way. The nice thing about the pivoting action, is that it allows you to attach the front fork of the bike without taking the back tire off the ground. This allows for just one person to Load the bike with ease!!
