Archway Rack 2 Bike

There are three problems with trunk-mount bike racks. They damage your car's finish, they allow your bikes to swing into each other, and they allow your bikes your swing into your car. Thule has solved all three with the Archway 2 Bike Rack. With Thule's new Hold-Fast cradles and oversized molded pads, you can be sure your bikes and your car are safe.

  • Quick Fit lever makes installation easy
  • Long tubes provide better trunk clearance
  • Anti-sway cages keeps the bikes from swaying into each other
  • Oversized pads protect your car’s finish

Is it safe to install on a low profile hashback over the rear window (e.g. Toyota Prius, Hyundai Ioniq, etc.).

This rack is very adjustable and can accommodate almost any car and should be fine. That said, you don't want to entire wright of the back on the window. Try to mount the bottom support on metal or the bumper.

Thule Archway Review

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I originally ordered a Thule Gateway II rack through Amazon but it was missing pieces. I decided to move up to the Archway (about 30 dollars more). The rack works fine but... the plastic piece that fastens to the seat tube to help hold the bike steady did not hold up to the Kansas wind while transporting my bike. I had to stop and remove the front tire to help reduce drag and keep the bike from wanting to rotate upward in the rack. The rubber straps held but it was a questionable ride home. I will say, it was windy, 20-30 mph winds with gusts to 40 and I was on the open highway traveling at 70 mph. For around town and maybe out to the local trail this rack will be fine. I am convinced this is not the rack intended for a cross-country trip! I am now looking at a roof mount system.

Perfect for any vehicle

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this as a gift for the parents and they have a 2017 Kia SUV (no clue which one...sorry). Fits perfect, super easy to take on and off for them so they can use it when they travel back and forth from AZ to UT every summer. So easy I didn't even have to go to the house to show them how to set it up or install it.

Great Trunk Option

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The quality of this bike rack is top notch. It has a nice, clean, and durable look with some cool features. I recently used it on a 200+ mile trip with two bikes and it worked great. The inserts where the bikes fit onto the rack are plush and won't scratch up the frames. There's also additional pieces that keeps the bikes from swinging into each other which is nice in stop and go traffic and keeps the car from being damaged as well. I like how the locking cable is built into one of the arms on the rack which makes it easy to secure any precious cargo. I would definitely recommend this rack to anyone looking for a safe and clean way to travel with their bikes.

Great Trunk Option

Works well on both SUV and sedan

I had a similar bike rack to this made by Saris I believe, and after about 4 years and granted many many miles, the straps were in bad shape and it was a little loose in the joints. Having had good luck with the Thule Stacker Kayak system and being impressed by its construction, I decided to look into Thule's bike rack options. Finally concluded that the Archway Rack 2 was the route I wanted to take, and it has not disappointed. Solid construction and great aesthetic. Only one problem... After a certain December 24th due date might have to consider the Archway Rack 3. Fortunately baby boy probably won't be riding bike just yet, so I think I have some time.
