Choosing a seatpost should not be an adventure. After all they do just one simple thing...right? Well after my Deda Superleggera post broke, I found myself on a mission to replace it only to discover how many really poor designs there are. As a larger heavy rider I needed a clamping design that secured the rails under and over as opposed to a side clamping design. I also needed setback. I bought a 3T, Zipp Service Course, a Fizik R1 and then finally the Thomson Masterpiece in my quest for saddle security. The three previous choices were well made but the ability to fine tune the tilt is poor and all three of them creaked under my 235lb butt. The Thomson is really well designed and beautifully made. On the road adjustments with a functional tilt gauge on the side of the clamp really makes this post stand out above the others. The CNC machining is a feast for the eyes and it does not creak. Yay!. It does that one simple thing and adds a touch of quality and elegance to my already over the top bike. I ultimately changed out my stem for a Thomson Elite X4 to match. Mission accomplished.

Is this compatible with a Bontrager saddle with 7x10 carbon rails?

I have put 1000+ miles on this post, and never had an issue. Adjustments to seat angle are super easy, post looks great and provides a good amount of setback for taller / leggy riders. 10/10 would recommend.

This post is the bomb. Super light weight and has the brand behind it. You can't beat a Thomson Masterpiece post if you're trying to make your bike a one of a kind. People will become jealous and point it out.

GOAT IS GOOD
Chasing grams, I had a famous maker carbon post on this rig and broke the rules attaching a seatpack for bikepacking. Short story—carbon post failed—I heard it crack and then examined it and broke it off by hand. Enter, the tried and trusted Thomson. Not the lightest, certainly not the heaviest. You know what they say—Strong, Light weight, Low Price; pick two… This is strong and pretty light. I’ve got Thomson posts on some of my other bikes (road and mountain)—forgot how great they are—probably because they just work. Easy adjustment for the seat to dial it in perfect. Then set it and forget it…holds the rails of the seat like a vise. No worries about shards of carbon piercing the nether regions with a Thomson post.
