Elite Setback Seatpost

You get 16mm of setback thanks to its bent shaft. Your minimum effective height is 80mm since you can't drop your post lower than the bend in the shaft. A stupendously high-quality setback seatpost that sets the standard for saddle adjustability and overall precision. The post and cradle are machined from one piece of 7000-series aluminum. Uses a 2-bolt design that allows you to nose your saddle up or down through adjustments to the bolts. 41mm seat rail grip. At 180g it rivals the lightness of carbon posts that cost twice as much.

  • 40% stronger than the toughest production seatposts available—you won’t break a Thomson
  • Infinite saddle-tilt adjustments, minus 5 to plus 29 degrees
  • Impact-absorbing clamps spread shock, reducing fatigue on rider and saddle rails
  • Low-profile clamps do not interfere with saddle

  • Machined 7000-series aluminum
  • 180 grams
  • Two-bolt saddle adjustment

Just What I Needed!

I've used it several times

Great seat post especially when you need a little more room in the cockpit ! Light , strong and well crafted !

Great seat post

What's there to say? It holds my seat in place and looks great!!

Perfect Seat Post

I've put it through the wringer

High-quality post, adjustments are so so so easy (cannot emphasize that enough) and it looks pretty sweet. 10 / 10 would recommend.

How long is the portion that is setback? On most of my bikes, I don't get to have a lot of seatpost sticking out, so before pulling the trigger on this, I need to know if it would even be possible for me.

Great seatpost that is easy to setup!

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

"It's just a seatpost", "a few grams won't make a difference": These just a few things that I heard from people when I posed a question about swapping out my OEM seatpost. The OEM seatpost that came with the bike is straight and did not work for me. I tried another OEM seatpost with setback that I had, while better, it was a royal pain to setup and not perfect. Thomson is known to make quality products and accolades from online forums/reviews regarding the Elite seatpost. I decided to give it a try. Well it is perfect! It has enough setback, you can tell the workmanship and quality. The seatpost clamp is easy to work with and offers awesome adjustment (tilt). I took a quick ride and the saddle felt great!!

Elite 27.2

The go-to seatpost.

Great post for a set and forget part.

I wish it was a little cheaper or a little lighter but if you want no drama just buy this post and never think about it again. There is competition with comparable post that are a little lighter and a little cheaper but they don't say Thomson on the side.

Install and Forget

And that's pretty much all one needs to do to this post! Well, that's not completely true. You can install and forget all Thomson parts. Sure, you need to take care of your stuff, but fretting over whether your Thomson bits can handle the abuse is a complete waste of gray matter. On the rare occasion that I buy a bike in a box, the first things that get dumped are the stem and post. Made is the US of A, by guys that know what the F they're doing. These very same guys answer the phone should an issue ever arise, and will stand behind their product, no questions asked. If the answer to your question is Thomson, should you have asked the question?

I am buying this for my Specialized Aliez...

I am buying this for my Specialized Aliez road bike. I have measured the current seatpost at 1 inch OD. What size should I order?

Not being sure how you measured to OD on your current seatpost I can't say forsure but a 1 inch diameter with be a 25.4mm post. This is sorta a rare size and not likely what you have on your Specialized. From what I can find most to all Specialized Allez frames used the 27.2mm size since 1993. Unless you used a dial caliper to measure the 1 inch OD buy the 27.2mm seatpost.

what size of seatpost should i order for...

what size of seatpost should i order for 2008 trek fuel ex

Usually the size is stamped on the post somewhere near the minimum insertion line, if you have the old one around. Otherwise a dial caliper would be helpful in confirming the size. But I'm pretty sure you're looking for a 31.6mm diameter post. Like 89% sure. Length wise, you'll need to assess the way you frame fits or you could buy long and cut if needed. Good luck.
