Legendary for a reason.

A stupendously high-quality non-setback seatpost that sets the standard for saddle adjustability and overall precision. The post and cradle are machined from one piece of 7000-series aluminum. Uses a 2-bolt design that allows you to nose your saddle up or down through adjustments to the bolts. 41mm seat rail grip. At 180g it rivals the lightness of carbon posts that cost twice as much.

  • Machined from one piece of 7000-series aluminum
  • 2-bolt design for easy saddle adjustments
  • Long attachment length (around 41mm)
  • Lightweight (roughly 180g)

Thomson quality

I've been riding on Thomson parts for a long time...venerable manufacturer, impeccable quality.

    Great post. Wrong tech spec

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A trouble-free seat post made with love in Macon, GA. Buy USA.
One detail: Thomson elite weighs about 240g. The Masterpiece weighs 200g. The claimed weight above is disceiving. Buyer beware. See the Thomson website.

    Best option for any bike.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been running Thomson posts on all my bikes for years. From Dirt Jump to Fixed Gear, to Mountain to Road, You can't go wrong with the classic.

    Timeless Quality

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Light Strong with a classic look. It's tough to go wrong with Thomson products.

    Thomson never disappoints!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ended up buying another Thomson post and I've used their product many, many times over the year. This post I installed on my Santa Cruz Hightower, as the dropper from the factory didn't work out for my needs. While waiting to get a Thomson Covert Elite Dropper, I felt this would always be a great secondary post to have in the event I have any dropper related issues.
If you're ever in doubt about buying one of these, don't doubt it, just get it! Feel free to reach out to me with your question.

    All in the details

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After drooling over so many so many beautiful bikes clad in Thomson cockpit parts at the North American Handbuilt Bicycle Show (NAHBS), I had to have my own. The little ridges on the post really add a nice detail to the overall presentation on your bike, and the post is light as well. Regarding saddle installation and adjustment, the clamp is easier to work with than most. Few things class up a bike like Thomson.

    Timeless classic

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is probably the 7th Thomson post I've ever owned. Every bike of mine has a Thomson on it. They just last forever. Perfect flex and stiffness. Saddle cradle is super easy to install saddles to. Love it

Top of the line, Top of the podium

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

You can always count on Thompson to make the highest quality bits for your bike. It doesn't take long to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into all of the Thompson line, and this seat post is no exception. No slipping or creaking like you would get from a carbon post. It is also extremely light. For something this light and high quality, the price is worth it.

    Work of art

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Thomson post has been a standard in the industry for ages. The simple design needs no improvement. It simply works. Besides being well made, the post is extremely light and even lighter than most carbon posts.

Will this seatpost take saddles with 7x9 carbon rails?

Hi James, yes this post is compatible with 7x9 carbon rails.

    Do Not Choose Anything Else!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Had this seat post on my MTB for years now. Never had an issue. If I needed one on my road bike I would buy it again.

    Except no substitute

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Everyone compares their seatpost to Thomson, so why not just get a Thomson. If you like alloy, this is THE seatpost. I own two, one on my track bike and one on my mountain bike, and I would put one on my cross bike, but I don't ride it enough to justify the cost of a new seatpost.

    Great And solid.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Awesome seatpost. Very high quality seatpost and nicely machined. Very light and sturdy. I have not had any problems with it. Does not flex.

Thomson offers unmatched quality on alloy product!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Thomson Elite has been a classic standby any time I need a new post. I've had this on road bikes, mountain bikes, and city bikes. I've never had any complaints. It is comfortable and lighter than many carbon posts.

Great post when you need a lot of angle.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this on a, now ancient, Maverick Matic. The monolink design requires the seat post angle to be very aggressive so the seat post has to compensate for it. Though it's at the limits with the stock bolts, it works out fine. No issue are creaking. Fantastic high quality seat post. With about 2 dozen rides on it, zero issues.

Great post when you need a lot of angle.

    post perfection

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I run this post on my Yeti. Love it. Looks good. No slip at all. Very strong as well.

    The best hands down

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I enjoy the aesthetics of Thomson but the quality can't be beat.

I've used zero-offset posts for some time now and I'm all in on Thomson. Some other stuff might be a few grams lighter but there's something about a Thomson, that badass look!

It makes my already amazing bike better!

Only the Best for a Custom Build

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was doing a custom build last summer , I decided to get Thompson Seat Post and Stem, great products. Made in America , light weight , sturdy and classic look. I'm glad I went with the best.
