Short shorts for long rides.

There are as many attitudes about cycling tan lines as there are cyclists. Some cyclists don't worry about them at all, some wear them as a badge of distinction, and others prefer to hide them when they're not on the bike. If you're among the latter group, but you still like to grind out long miles in the sun, then Terry Bicycles' Touring 5-inch Shorts will give you all the comfort you need for day-long cycling trips but keep the inevitable tan line high and tight so it hides discreetly under shorts or skirts when you're not on the bike.

The Touring 5-inch Shorts use the same fabric, Terry's fastest-drying material, as their predecessors, but with added elements of fit and function to make long outings in the saddle more enjoyable. The front of the waist is elastic free, so it's less restrictive, and they include a new, long-distance chamois — both of which you'll appreciate on long days in the saddle. The fast-drying, easy-care T-Dry fabric means that you can wash these in the sink during a multi-day cycling trip and they'll dry in time for the next leg. The incorporation of a zippered pocket, which is an almost unheard of luxury in cycling shorts, frees up valuable jersey pocket space for snacks, a phone, and anything else you want quick access to from the saddle. The five-inch version of the shorts reduces restriction on your legs and makes for a more easily concealed tan line compared to its longer counterpart.

The Flex Air Tour insert is an upgrade in comfort from Terry's less-substantial Flex Air chamois. The Flex Air Tour has the same seamless, four-way stretch construction, but it benefits from slightly more foam padding and uses Elastic Interface Technology to dial the insert's shape and function to your body's in-the-saddle needs, protecting the nerves and circulation areas that are most vulnerable while you're on the bike. The inner thigh portion of the insert is reduced to a minimalist microfiber fabric — in Terry's signature pink color — to reduce restrictive bulk and eliminate chafing.

The Terry Bicycles Touring 5-inch Shorts - Women's are available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the color Black.

  • T-Dry fabric
  • Flex Air Tour chamois
  • Zippered side pocket
  • Shorter, 5-inch inseam
  • Mid-rise fit

My 4th pair of terry touring shorts. 2 long and 2 short. I prefer the 5 inch ones for wearing under my skort in the heat. The pad is perfect for my 50 mile rides. Love the touring shorts!

Seem good for shorter rides

I returned this product before using it

I was looking for shorts with a really good chamois for my upcoming century ride. I really wanted to like these because I prefer the shorter length to mitigate awkward tan lines, but after inspecting the chamois upon arrival and comparing it to the Castelli's and LG's I ordered, the chamois just didn't seem quite as thick or supportive. The chamois in these is probably okay for a ride that is under 50 miles. I ended up keeping the LG neo power because the gel in them was superior to any foam chamois I've used or felt.

Love the fabric, love the pocket, love the length, love the shami!! I ordered a L & XL...the leg band on the L was more snug than I prefer, but the XL were too big (the dryer helped resolve this). I will be purchasing more Terry in the future.

Nice shorts

These are nice shorts and have the same pad as the Bella shorts, which I like. I liked these better in the longer length. I found these to be just a bit low in the rise, and I prefer a higher rise in cycling shorts.
